Meet Erica Moore

We were lucky to catch up with Erica Moore recently and have shared our conversation below.

Erica, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing Discipline – starting with setting clear and achievable goals. I established a routine in my daily life, it help build consistency, a key aspect of discipline. I started to focus more on habits that aligned with my goals, it made discipline a natural part of my routine – like reading and meditation. I also held myself accountable, either by tracking my progress or by sharing my goals with others who could offer support and encouragement. I learned to view setbacks as opportunities for growth, allowing myself to rebound and continue progressing toward my goals.

Developing Self-Esteem – I acknowledged my strengths and accomplishments, appreciating my unique qualities and talents. Positive self-recognition formed the foundation of my self-esteem. I also cultivated a habit of speaking positively to myself. By challenging negative thoughts and replacing them with constructive ones, I developed a healthier self-image.
I chose to spend time with people who uplifted me and believed in my abilities. My supportive circle contributed to my growing self-esteem. Setting boundaries was very important. Respecting personal boundaries, I gained a sense of control over my life. This empowered me to value my needs and assert myself when necessary. Taking challenges allowed me to sought out new challenges and learn from them. Each success, no matter how small, contributed to my sense of competence and self-worth. I can say now I more into my Practicing Self-Care Phase, taking time for myself for relaxation and digressing from my day to day it’s much need for mental health.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My passion for health and wellness stem from a desire to share my journey and inspire others. After experiencing the transformative effects of taking care of my health, I feel compelled to encourage those around me to adopt healthier habits. I don’t push perfection just making better choices.

A two time survivor and also not able to heal after a simple breast reduction opened my mind in so many ways.

I had a surgery that was the catalyst for me to focus on health and wellness even more. It gave me a new perspective on the importance of taking care of your body and mind, driven by a combination of personal experience, a desire to maintain health, and a motivation to inspire others.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Empathy and Compassion: The ability to understand and connect with others on a personal level is crucial in health and wellness. Whether you are a coach, counselor, or healthcare professional, showing genuine empathy helps build trust and encourages people to share their concerns, leading to better outcomes.

Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication is key to educating, motivating, and guiding others toward healthier choices. This skill involves listening actively, explaining complex concepts in simple terms, and adapting your communication style to meet the needs of diverse audiences.

Holistic Knowledge of Health and Wellness: Understanding the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and emotional health is vital. Having expertise across multiple areas, such as nutrition, exercise, mental health, and stress management, allows you to offer comprehensive advice and support that addresses the whole person, not just isolated issues.
