Meet Erich Sayers

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erich Sayers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Erich , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Growing up in rural Kansas we are blue collar workers and farmers. I feel like your work ethic is valued over almost everything else aside from maybe honesty and dependability. I guess that’s the Protestant work ethic I don’t feel right if I’m not working. Throw in perfectionism and I have a hard time doing nothing unless it being in nature admiring its peace and beauty.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Ive worked nearly 17 years working in Los Angeles at the worlds best entertainment advertising agencies. Now in Austin Texas I’m exploring other opportunists in advertising and anywhere else that my talents are valued. I’ve been making more personal art than ever before. My own creations and much more meaningful but less beneficial monetarily. I’m gaining new skills and venturing into new directions and opportunities.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I guess my work ethic might be my most important quality. I took almost any job that I was offered and some were not pretty I can tell you that. I was born with an artistic eye and a talent for illustration but if you don’t keep creating its not worth much. Changes are coming fast so keep an eye on new developments that fit your style and just keep working. I think working even in the wrong direction so long as your assessing your development is better than standing still. Remember it is the journey not the destination. Keep good habits, habits create your life.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

This question reminds me of a quote ” Amplifying what is great within you will accelerate your life faster than fixing what you think limits you.
