Meet Erich Sayers

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erich Sayers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Erich , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Growing up in rural Kansas, I was surrounded by blue-collar workers and farmers. In that environment, work ethic was valued above almost everything—perhaps only second to honesty and dependability. I suppose that’s the Protestant work ethic in action; I don’t feel quite right unless I’m working. Add a touch of perfectionism, and I find it difficult to sit still—unless I’m out in nature, where I can simply admire its peace and beauty.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’ve spent nearly 17 years in Los Angeles working at some of the world’s top entertainment advertising agencies. Now based in Austin, Texas, I’m exploring new opportunities—both within advertising and in any field where my skills and creativity are valued. Lately, I’ve been creating more personal art than ever before. These projects are deeply meaningful, even if they’re less financially rewarding. At the same time, I’m gaining new skills and branching out into exciting new directions.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I guess my work ethic might be my most important quality. I took almost any job that I was offered and some were not pretty I can tell you that. I was born with an artistic eye and a talent for illustration but if you don’t keep creating its not worth much. Changes are coming fast so keep an eye on new developments that fit your style and just keep working. I think working even in the wrong direction so long as your assessing your development is better than standing still. Remember it is the journey not the destination. Keep good habits, habits create your life.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

This question reminds me of a quote ” Amplifying what is great within you will accelerate your life faster than fixing what you think limits you.
