We were lucky to catch up with Erik Fellows recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Erik, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I gathered my confidence and self-esteem from an early age when I began to play basketball throughout childhood and high school, and had the opportunity of playing pro basketball in Italy, which was unfortunately ended with an injury which later led me into the entertainment business and TV/film world, which translated the confidence I had as an athlete into my now professional life . I always thought of it in a way of sports and competition which gave me my advantage earlier in my life and use those tactics and mindset in my adulthood and career.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
The Award winning actor Erik Fellows grew up on the eastcoast in Maryland as an only child in a Italian and Swedish household , I’m most known for my role as Troy Winston in the long-running NBC’s daytime soap opera “Days of our Lives.” He’s also had lead roles in movies such as 2019’s “Being Rose,” with Cybill Shepherd & James Brolin. “Texas Heart,” “American Cowslip,” playing opposite to Icons such as Val Kilmer , Cloris Leachman, Bruce Dern, Diane Ladd , Rip Torn & Peter Falk. Erik also starred in films “Jonny’s Sweet Revenge” & the action thriller “Break Even.” And he is part of the long-time running television series “CSI NY” and “NCIS Los Angeles,” and his series regular roles in the multiple Emmy award-winning series “The Bay” as Damian Blackwell and his Best Lead actor win at the 2022 Indie Series awards – role as Bobby in the hit series Purgatory on Popstar! TV and his latest comedy releases are the romantic comedy and hilarious “Divorce Bait” playing the role of (Samuel Grey) as the artsy and overly confident photographer (Ex boyfriend) role playing opposite to Vannessa Vasquez as (Alexis Laguna) in the film which has been really well received with great reviews and has quickly become an audience favorite. Erik’s 2nd comedy release in 2022, now as the role of (Jimmy Starr) in the recently released dark comedy “Starf*cker” in which Erik is already receiving praise for his dynamic and vivacious performance in the film. I have 2 new projects releasing in early 2024 , 2 films called “Sunlight” and “No Tears in Hell”. Also producing and starring in 2 other films which are in development called “Love & Money and “A Beating Heart”. Lots more to come!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Perseverance, enthusiasm and persistence. I think those three things for me is what has given me the longevity and confidence in my career to continue and be successful. I think everyone going into any career path they choose needs to find those skill sets or qualities about themselves that helps give them the path of no resistance, and to continue and prosper in any career that they have or any field they are willing to go after. Quitting was never an option for me nor do I believe it’s an option for anyone it’s just finding the right angles and finding how to achieve their goals in the best way that works for them and staying true to themselves. Also loving yourself is most important you can’t love anyone or anything without loving yourself first and believing that you deserve to achieve greatness…
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I would say my parents, both mom and dad have been my major supporters in my life and career throughout. They never given up on me and have always believed in me. Always giving me words of wisdom, always pick me up when I was down and they never made me think or believe that I couldn’t achieve what I have. So I would say definitely my parents and family and loving friends have always supporting me.and Have been there by my side and have helped keep me going this whole time which helped me continue in my business. It all starts with loving yourself and loving what you do. You definitely can’t prosper in life without loving yourself first which allows you to love what you do..
