Meet Erika Bond

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Erika Bond a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Erika with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic was instilled in me at an early age. I’ve always had a strong inner drive to succeed, which motivated me to put in the necessary effort. Whether it was striving for good grades in school or advancing in my professional career, my determination has always been at the core of everything I do. Now, with All-Love, my focus is on truly changing the perception of inclusivity within the sport of tennis. So I will do all that I can to work towards achieving that goal. I try to embody values like reliability, consistency, adaptability, discipline, and perseverance. But more than that, I’m always looking for ways to test and strengthen these traits across all aspects of my work and personal life. To me, a strong work ethic isn’t just about hard work—it’s about being relentless in your pursuit of growth and excellence.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am the founder of All-Love Racquet Club, a community organization dedicated to promoting inclusivity in sports like tennis. The vision behind All-Love was born from my personal experiences within the tennis community. As a woman of color and tennis coach, I quickly realized that many of the existing tennis clubs and brands weren’t fostering environments that were inclusive or accessible to people from diverse backgrounds.

Historically, tennis has had exclusionary practices and norms, which have marginalized underrepresented groups. Through All-Love, we are changing that by merging tennis with cultural elements that reflect today’s diversity. Our events create a welcoming space where participants feel encouraged to show up as their authentic selves, have fun, and engage with the sport in an accessible way. Tennis is currently enjoying an exciting resurgence in pop culture, with more diversity than ever before. There’s a clear need for a collective and brand like All-Love that makes everyone feel safe, included, and part of the community.

We’ve got a few exciting community events lined up for the rest of the year:

Nov 3 – Manhattan, NY
Nov 16 – Long Beach, CA
Dec 14 – Long Beach, CA
Additionally, All-Love is launching an afterschool program in South LA, and we host weekly meet-ups for adult players of all skill levels every Sunday at Griffith Park in LA through a social meet-up called Club Volley. You can follow us on Instagram at @allloveracquetclub for more updates and announcements.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities have been the most impactful: resilience, innovation, and authenticity. Resilience has been essential because, no matter what obstacles come your way, you have to keep pushing forward. There were many moments when it would’ve been easier to give up, but having the mindset to keep going, even in the face of setbacks, made all the difference.Innovation has also played a key role. In any career, you have to be able to think on your feet, adapt to changes, and solve problems creatively. Being agile and open to new approaches helped me navigate challenges and stay ahead in an ever-evolving industry. And then, there’s authenticity. I’ve always believed in living and breathing what I do. You can’t fake passion, and to truly excel, you have to be a subject matter expert and remain true to yourself. Authenticity is about fully committing to your craft and bringing your whole self into your work.

For those starting out, I’d offer three pieces of advice. First, find mentorship in areas that interest you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help—mentors can provide invaluable perspective based on their own experiences, and they’ll often become your most trusted sounding boards as you progress. Second, always be open to feedback. Sometimes it’s hard to hear, but it’s necessary for growth. Listening to others’ perspectives can help you stay grounded and self-aware, which is key to constant improvement. Lastly, continually look for ways to expand your skill set. Whether it’s through personal development or professional experiences, growing your abilities across different areas of life helps you remain adaptable. When your key principles are embedded in your everyday actions, it becomes easier to be your most authentic self in everything you do.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely! I’m always open to collaborating. At All-Love, we frequently partner with local brands, foundations, and social clubs for our events. If you’re passionate about making racquet sports like tennis more inclusive and accessible in your community or customer base, I’d love to explore ways we can work together. To connect, feel free to email us at [email protected] or send a direct message on Instagram at @allloveracquetclub. Let’s make an impact together!
