We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Erika Caldwell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Erika below.
Erika , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
Believe it or not, I have always been a very generous/kind person. It is something I can say is very natural to me. A God given gift, but it took a while for me to see it as a blessing! When I was younger, I looked at it as a sign of being weak or being a push over, but now that I am older it is one of the characters that God wants us to have! Trying to be and naturally being a generous person is two entirely different things! Trying to be a generous person can cause resentment, stress & frustration, but when you understand that you are kind and generous out of the goodness of your heart you don’t expect anything in return you understand it. I also used to think that my kindness/generosity was a genetic thing (lol) my father’s side of the family are really kindhearted and genuinely nice people! But as I got older, I realized that it is a God given gift! We are to treat others how we want to be treated even if you are not receiving the same treatment! Now, don’t get me wrong there are boundaries, but when acting out of the kindness of your heart your bound to get blessed on the backend! I now realize I didn’t need to change (be harder, be mean, bully people) but possibly I am here to help change the world?
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I go out into the communities and educate people about the importance of life insurance and investments! I know it doesn’t sound exciting BUT it really is! It’s the impact that I have to help many families! Before this opportunity I was not educated myself, so once I learned about the reasonings and importance of having these things in place I automatically thought about all the people who just like myself did not know this information and how I could be the reason that they could know it! At some point in our lives, we WILL experience loss it’s inevitable! But helping a family with the proper life insurance and investment is life-changing! I can’t help that family dodge loss, but I could help them come up with a plan to where their house is paid off, their kids can still live the lifestyle their parents worked hard and help them investment money left behind from their loved ones setting up a life insurance plan! That is some super-hero type stuff!! Life insurance is the last thing most want to discuss, but the first thing they will be asked about when they experience losing someone. So, if I could help in any way educate people about the type, cost, coverage etc. I am here for it! We have products to fit any budget! We also insure children where you pay for ONE child and the rest ride on the plan for FREE until the age of 25! I know what I do is life changing and my purpose in doing this is to help as many families as God allows!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Faith
2. Self- Development
3. Willing to try, try, try again this will NOT be easy, but worth pursuing
There are so many more of course, but these are some core qualities/skills that can help you on your journey. First is faith! Without belief in something and yourself you’re setting yourself up for disappointment!
Self-development is key to anything you are desiring to pursue! Self-development can be anything from reading books on leadership, people, relationships self-love, discipline, vision, spirituality to therapy! Understanding who we are, how you view things and why will help you understand people. We also need a mentor and/or a coach! Someone who is where you want to be and can help you get there! This person will hold you accountable which may be uncomfortable at times, but you will thank them later!
This last one is extremely important! We live in the era of social media/technology and can get caught up in other people’s lives. What they post and not the journey it took them to get there. Fulfilling your purpose and making an impact in this world is not microwavable! It takes time and sometimes it may take more than 1 attempt! It’s never a failure UNLESS you quit!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely! I am looking for people who want to educate others regarding setting up a plan for their families but also looking to help educate others do the same! I am looking to collaborate with others who have the heart to help! Those who understand we are here to service others and enjoy giving back. If you love giving back and want to add more knowledge under your belt this would be perfect! Teachers, educators, entrepreneurs, parents, volunteers, fitness instructors, nurses, doctors, real estate agent. This can definitely be something to add to your portfolio!
