Meet Erika Sellers

We were lucky to catch up with Erika Sellers recently and have shared our conversation below.

Erika, thank you so much for making time for us today. We can’t wait to dive into your story and the lessons you’ve learned along the way, but maybe we can start with something foundational to your success. How have you gone about developing your ability to communicate effectively?

Growing up I have always been a talkative person. Public speaking has been installed into me as a kid. My family are very friendly people so I picked up on their skills to communicate fluently With others. As I got older, I developed a personality out of this world that draws people in to talk to me so naturally. People will often say that it felt like they have known me for years because of how well I can relate to their situations and personalities.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello I’m Erika Sellers born and raised in South Carolina. I attended the beautiful South Carolina State University. I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. I majored in business management. While attending I always had an eye for the latest trends when it came to the beauty industry. One day while in my business class I will always overhear women complaining about certain beauty products that were sold around the campus or they were upset it was always limited access to certain things because we were in a area where it’s first come first serve. I took the initiative to step up and that’s when I became the owner of Herville LLC. Herville LLC is a one-stop shop for all women of color and sizes. Herville satisfies every woman in the world needs from fitness wear (launches December 1st 2024), lip care, hair products, and etc. Herville also is very involved in the community to help women and girls with life changing needs as well. Herville is in the process of hosting mommy and me events, fashion show fundraisers, women workshops, you name it!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

On my journey, the three important areas I focused on were consistency, quality, and purpose. When I talk about consistency it’s very important. You can’t let Procrastination take over. You have to be consistent and keep showing up for yourself. It’s a million of people selling and doing the same thing as you which leads into purpose. You have to know why you’re doing it and while you’re doing it what do you want your outcome to be; what goals are you trying to set for yourself or others? Do something you love and not do it because of a trend. Last but not least quality. You have to make sure what you put out is something you know yourself and others will love. Get samples test it out make sure the quality is amazing because everyone can have the same item but each quality can be different. Make your brand count!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Owning Herville LLC can become challenging at times because the market is constantly changing. Some days I may have a sale some days I won’t. What’s important and what has helped me is staying on top of new ways to promote my business. I will post as much as possible on social media, reach out to different influencers, host/go to pop up events, pay for advertisement etc. I’m so passionate about herville I will not give up no matter on my worst days I switch my mindset and brainstorm on what I can do next to improve.
