Meet Erin Rivers

We were lucky to catch up with Erin Rivers recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
A purpose is defined as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. Purpose for me, is the work I do daily with Elevated Soul. From a small age the feeling I experienced in the kitchen is one that I have yet to duplicate. The complete euphoria and excitement that I experienced from the first successful recipe, or after completing my first successful catered event. That feeling remains the same 7 years after launching Elevated Soul. I love that I’ve found this work that fuels my culinary creativity, and has unlocked a level of passion for something that I can’t imagine my life without. My purpose is connecting people with an amazing dining experience. Demonstrating the generations of love and passion for food through the cuisine that I create and serve.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the owner and operator of Elevated Soul. Elevated Soul is a full service catering company operating in Austin Texas. Services include catering, private chef services, meal planning, a line of spices and a gourmet lemonade available for shipping. Our goal is providing excellent food, and stellar customer service while focusing on sustainability, and doing our part to feed the homeless population throughout Austin Texas. Service area includes Austin, Dallas, Houston and surrounding areas.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When making the decision to take a journey into entrepreneurship, ensure that you have a grasp or understanding of business. Having a great product is essential, but so is being able to market that product successfully. Resilience is key. Hearing the no’s, seeing the doors close, and being able to press forward and continue on in those critical moments is crucial. Truly believing in your product, trusting the process and moving as though this plan, is the only plan. And yet, still being able to pivot in the face of change and extreme challenges.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The most helpful people along this journey have come in many forms. Other entrepreneurs and their willingness to share their wealth of knowledge has been such a gift, and it’s one that I don’t take lightly. Customers that are willing to offer constructive criticism that cultivates growth. I’d say; skip some of the webinars and book a consultation with someone that is doing something that you admire and can apply to your body of work. Some of the most meaningful interactions I’ve had in business that have helped me overcome challenges have come about due to me actively pursuing the advice and guidance from people within my line of work that I admire. People that were willing to share their experiences, and were also willing to point me in the proper direction to make the appropriate connections that would aid in my success.
