Meet Erin Steward

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Erin Steward. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Erin, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience was born from navigating one of life’s most difficult seasons. Losing my mom was a turning point; it taught me how to find strength in vulnerability, grace in grief, and light in some f the darkest moments. Every challenge since has been a reminder of how capable I am of rebuilding myself and continuing to grow into the person I am now

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My photography journey has been such an incredible adventure; what started as a creative outlet has grown into something that truly lights me up every single day. Photography allows me to blend emotion with art, to take the beauty I see in people and in the world around me and turn it into something that can be cherished forever.

What I find most exciting about it is the creative energy I get to pour into each session; from dreaming up themes and styling concepts to capturing those raw, in between moments that help tell someone’s story. Every session is a chance to create something new and meaningful.

What makes this work so special to me is knowing that the images I create will become part of someone’s memories, the kind that are cherished for years to come. Watching my little business, Dreamy Eclipse Photography grow has been both humbling and thrilling. I’m so grateful for every person who steps in front of my lens and trusts me to capture their memories . I can’t wait to see where this creative journey leads me!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I think the three qualities and skills that have had the biggest impact on my journey were starting with the basics, embracing creativity, and staying humble. When I first began, I made it a priority to really understand my camera, learning the settings, the lighting, and how to use those tools to bring my vision to life. From there, I focused on mastering the basics of editing so I could refine my work and create images that truly felt like my own style.

But just as important has been keeping a humble and open heart, staying curious, being willing to learn from others, taking feedback as an opportunity to better myself and never losing sight of why I started because I love creating art that means something to people.

My best advice for anyone just starting out is to never stop learning and never stop having fun. Every session, every mistake, every new idea is part of the process. Stay curious, stay creative, and let the joy of creating guide you, that’s where the magic really happens.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who’s ready to step into their power; a woman who wants to celebrate herself, embrace her confidence, and see her own beauty in a new light. I love working with people who are open to expressing their creative side, whether that means exploring a fantasy inspired concept, a bold editorial look, or a soft, soulful portrait session.

For me, photography isn’t just about taking pictures, it’s about helping someone see themselves the way the world sees them… strong, beautiful, and one of a kind. My favourite sessions are the ones where a client walks away not just with beautiful photos, but with a renewed sense of self love and confidence. That’s what truly makes this work special for me.
