We were lucky to catch up with Ernesto Rosa recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ernesto, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic come from a combination of factors, including upbringing, personal values, experiences, and goals. It may have been influenced by observing hardworking role models, being taught the importance of diligence and dedication, or facing challenges that instilled a drive to succeed. The feeling of been successful and offer bigger opportunities to others.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am Ernesto Rosa, serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of JJ Cosmetics & Spa, where our overarching goal is to establish a realm of beauty excellence. Our establishment encompasses both a distinguished beauty salon and the esteemed JJ Cosmetics Makeup line. Originating from Puerto Rico, I embarked on a journey that led me to Syracuse, New York, during my formative years, and later settled in Florida at the age of 22. Since childhood, my fervent devotion to the beauty industry, particularly in the domains of makeup and cosmetics, has remained unwavering. Fueled by an insatiable quest for knowledge and an unyielding dedication to perfection, I have played a pivotal role in fostering the success of numerous beauty enterprises, commencing in Upstate New York and culminating in our expansion into Florida.
Upon reflection, I recognized my inherent vocation: to establish an independent enterprise aimed at fostering the success of aspiring entrepreneurs and fostering employment opportunities. Throughout my journey, I have been fortunate to engage in partnerships with notable figures within various industries and to contribute to esteemed gatherings such as the IBS New York International Beauty Show.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For those early in their business journey, focus on continuous learning, networking, and resilience. Invest time in understanding your industry, seek mentorship, and don’t be afraid to adapt to market changes. Build strong relationships, prioritize customer satisfaction, and embrace failures as learning opportunities. Stay persistent, and don’t hesitate to pivot if necessary.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
