Meet Errol Bryant

We recently connected with Errol Bryant and have shared our conversation below.

Errol , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

MCRAA found its purpose initially when we were alerted that our beloved Alma Mater was in jeopardy of being shut down. When presented with this news a number of Alums, Community Stakeholders and Staff banded together to see what kind of impact we could have on the outcome of our school being saved and possibly revitalized.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

The Miami Central Rockets Alumni Association (commonly known as MCRAA) is a Nonprofit organization that helps its Alma Mater in a number of ways. Each year we host and participate in our Annual Career Day where Alums comeback to speak with the current crop of Rockets about their perspective jobs / careers. We help with various events and or programs where in some cases we financially help facilitate certain projects in others we help out with simply our physical presence. We also sponsor qualifying graduating seniors, at the end of the school year, their own personal Laptops to go off to college, and in recent years have begin providing students with Financial and Book Scholarships. This to help those who may need to purchase books for certain classes, or help off set school fees. We provide a mentorship to the students and whatever other service we are asked to do for the School the Loss and the surrounding Communities.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

One of the best ways to obtain the knowledge needed in any situation is to become fully involved in the situation. Take the time to find out all what is required in order for you to be able to make an impact in anyway. Once you’ve done that, you have to fully immerse yourself into the thick of things and see what exactly your strengths are that will help to address any of the needs for whatever it is you’re embarking on. You have to be passionate and willing to do the things that it will take for your Job, Community, and Association to make it a positive light and be productive.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The number one challenge that MCRAA has faced to date I would say is getting others to buy into the vision that those of us who are active already have for the association. Getting people to see something that you see is relatively hard to do when they don’t possess the same passion as you do so it’s hard for them to see the vision. One of the things that we are trying to do is come up with new and innovative ways to grasp the attention of others and get them to see the wonderful works that we are doing and hope that by them seeing it for themselves it’ll spark something in them to want to come aboard join in and help the association to manifest so many of the things and ideas we have that will continue to help elevate Miami Central Sr. High School , MCRAA and all of the kids and surrounding communities as a whole. At MCRAA we have a very great group of members , officers and a wonderful Board of Directors headed up by my amazing Vice President Ms. Chandra D. Burse. We have a plethora of passionate people already working within the association but we always have room for more who share the desire of service to our community.
