Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eryn Gilson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Eryn, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from my upbringing, where I was fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly giving people. My grandparents and my mom were always role models of generosity. They showed me the joy of giving back, whether it was through their businesses or personal acts of kindness within our community. Their example really shaped who I am today.
It’s more than just something I do—it’s a part of my heart. Helping others feels natural, and it’s simply the right thing to do. I truly believe that when we uplift others, everyone wins. This perspective is something I carry into my personal life and my business because making a positive impact on those around me is a core value I hold dear.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My passion lies in helping small businesses grow and find the freedom to thrive in their work. My work is all about celebrating the love of small businesses and finding ways to support them in meaningful and impactful ways. There are so many ways the community can rally behind small businesses, and I love being a part of that journey.
Right now, we’re gearing up for some big changes coming in early 2025. While I can’t give away any spoilers just yet, I can say that these new developments will aim to make life easier for small business owners, especially when it comes to their marketing efforts. We’re really excited about what’s in store and how it will help our clients.
What truly sets us apart is our heart for helping small businesses. We understand that no two businesses are alike, which is why we never take a one-size-fits-all approach. Your business is unique, and your marketing strategy should be too. We pride ourselves on crafting tailored solutions that align with each business’s specific goals and values, ensuring they can stand out and succeed.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey, three qualities have been most impactful: grit, joy, and a strong work ethic. These traits have not only helped me build my business but also sustain it over time.
Grit: Starting a business isn’t easy, and there are definitely tough days. Grit is what gets you through those moments when things don’t go as planned, or when challenges seem overwhelming. It’s about perseverance and resilience, keeping your eyes on the long-term goals even when the short-term is difficult. For those early in their journey, my advice is to embrace the bumps in the road as learning opportunities. Don’t give up—those who succeed are often the ones who simply kept going.
Joy: Finding joy in both the big and small moments is crucial. As small business owners, it can feel like we’re working 24/7, so it’s important to make time for joy to avoid burnout. Celebrate every win, no matter how small, and find joy in the everyday aspects of your work. This mindset helps keep things in perspective and makes the journey enjoyable. For new entrepreneurs, I’d suggest regularly setting aside time to reflect on what makes you happy in your business and consciously seek out those moments.
Strong Work Ethic: Building a successful business requires a lot of hard work and dedication. It’s not easy, but it is so worth it. You have to be willing to put in the hours and go the extra mile, especially in the beginning. For those just starting, remember that your effort directly impacts your business. Stay committed, show up every day, and be consistent in your actions. The rewards come to those who are persistent and hardworking.
To anyone beginning their entrepreneurial journey, I’d say focus on developing these qualities. They’ll not only help you navigate the challenges but also enjoy the successes that come your way.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
We really enjoy partnering with clients who are enthusiastic and deeply involved in their businesses. Our ideal clients are the go-getters who understand the value of marketing but might not have the time to handle it themselves. We love collaborating with people who bring a sense of fun and creativity to the table, making the process enjoyable and engaging for everyone involved.
