Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Esperanza Green – Gonzales. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Esperanza , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Growing up, I have always felt like I was different. I definitely was the black sheep in my family and very different in school. Self-esteem and confidence has been something that I have had to work on consistently throughout my whole life. In still do sometimes. Over the years, I learned to love my uniqueness. However, that has taken a lot of inner work, deep self reflection, and healing. My path has not been easy, yet I am extremely grateful for it. It has made me the person that I am today.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the owner of Lovely studio. A beauty studio that specializes in Premier services such as lash extensions, permanent makeup, and skin services. I am extremely passionate about what I do and love making women feel confident by enhancing their beauty while still maintaining their natural essence.
I believe that superior services can only derive from the highest quality products and top of the line education. There is a huge difference in not only the feel of excellence, but also the look.
Our Lash sets for example, are weightless and you can tell. This is because we specialize in healthy lash extensions and they do not cause any damage. Once again, this can only be executed from using high quality products and consistent, in-depth and superior education. With that being said, I am persistent on always researching the newest trends, products, educational conferences, and classes.
Within the last couple of years, I have hired a couple of lash artists, Monica and Colleen. My hiring process involved prayer and intention of bringing in the right employees for what my brand represents and what type of environment I wanted to cultivate. My prayers were answered, and I extremely grateful for my team.
We are not just a team, we are also a family. Understanding the many challenges that come within the industry, I make sure to always maintain a supportive and uplifting environment as best as possible. A professional, clean and, peaceful atmosphere is what I strive for. Furthermore, I will always try my best to make sure that my employees are happy and give them the guidance that is needed when necessary. There is no competition between one another. The focus is on growth, top tier customer service, and of course, excellence in all forms.
I am so excited about the new endeavors that have been recently occurring at Lovely studio! I recently became a graduate of the Phi Academy, and I am now a Phi Brow Artist. This has been a goal of mine for many years. I love what this brand represents and I am so proud and excited to continue to grow with them.
I also recently hired a licensed needleless filler artist. We will be having some events this summer to educate the community in not only needless fillers, but also some of the other services at the studio!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In my opinion, the most important thing is having the best customer service possible and always making sure that my customers are happy. Sometimes, that comes with sacrifices. I believe those sacrifices are very well worth it.
Resilience and determination is also a must in this industry. You cannot make everyone happy. This is why it is crucial to determine what your niche and targeted market is. That was easy for me because I knew and know what is most important to me and my brand.
For some reason, I’ve always had it in me to never give up. I have confronted fear so many times throughout my journey. I have failed many, many times but I keep going. I keep trying.
Growth, in all levels can be painful. Yet for me, it just made me push harder. Resilience is a muscle, and it can be built.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I am feeling overwhelmed or feeling any other negative emotion, I allow myself to feel that emotion and not run from it. After that, I might write, workout, pray, meditate, take deep breaths, or maybe even dance depending on what is coming up for me. Running from these emotions only makes things worse. I feel so much better after I release.
