Meet Esperanza Lorena Scotto

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Esperanza Lorena Scotto. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Esperanza Lorena below.

Esperanza Lorena , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I grew up on a farm in Eastern Washington with crops & livestock. I was given many responsibilities that come with running a farm from a young age which taught me how to work hard. After I finished my degree in interior design, I worked at a remodeling business and learned how to juggle and manage numerous projects, a skill that I continued to develop when I was working as an assistant to an interior designer afterward. When I started working as a full-time blogger & content creator, I had to learn how to be my own boss. The work ethic and management skills I learned over the years have served me very well. As a self-employed entrepreneur, it’s extremely important to be driven, motivated, and resilient in order to navigate daily business decisions and for longevity.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I studied interior design in college and worked in that industry for 6 years before becoming a full-time lifestyle blogger and content creator, While in college, I studied architecture in Florence, Italy, for a summer. During that trip, I was able to visit 9 countries and fell in love with traveling! This inspired me to start a blog to share my travels, but I have always loved fashion, interiors, beauty, wellness, and more, so I wanted to share my passion for those topics as well. I don’t like to limit myself to just one category. I would say I am most proud of my travel content because I spend a lot of time researching the city before my trips to find unique boutiques, local coffee shops & restaurants, and what the city has to offer as far as tourist attractions. I shoot as much content as possible during my trips so that I can create helpful travel guides with my followers. I like to feature small, local businesses because I think of myself as a small business as well, and I just prefer those kinds of shops! I feel like it’s my way of helping them out and making a difference. When I’m at home in Phoenix, I like to check out local spots and share those too! Because of my background in interior design, I love to highlight restaurants and boutiques with beautiful interiors. A project that I am excited about is a collaboration I will be working on with my boyfriend Andrew Rabbio, a chef & food consultant, (https://www.alchemyculinaryconsulting.com/) where we will be sharing unique recipes, healthy baby food ideas, and more.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would say the three most important qualities for me in my journey have been drive, a strong work ethic, and resilience. I have always had drive and a strong work ethic so those have never been an issue for me but resilience was a very important quality for me to learn. As an entrepreneur, you hear a lot of no’s and fail at times but you can’t give up, you have to be able to brush it off your shoulders and keep going. That has definitely been a quality I have developed over the years.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

This year I had my first baby, Sage Wylder, who is now 8 months old. As a work-from-home mom, I have had to accept that I can’t get as much done as I used to and that’s ok because I love being able to be with my baby. My boyfriend who is working remotely as well has been a huge help to me with watching Sage here and there so I can get essential work tasks done during the day. We also like to make a list in the evenings so that we know what needs to get done the following day and that helps us stay on track! Our days are busy but I love our life together.
