We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Esperanza Solar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Esperanza below.
Esperanza, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Truthfully…I’m still working through this almost every day but I’ve gotten into the mindset for the last few months that I REALLY have to give it my ALL, I have to be consistent and assertive with pursuing the things that make me feel joyful and fulfilled. Whether that entails speaking up, sending scary collaboration emails, vending at markets ( which are so fun ), making Instagram reels or all of the above, I’m going to do it because it’s what drives results, cultivates awareness and connections and helps put me in spaces I want to be in!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My creative story begins around 2020, like a lot of creatives did. I wanted to give my mom a handmade gift for her birthday that year without knowing how eye-opening it would eventually be for me. As I made her gifts, I realized the combination of jewelry and crystals was something I wanted to continue pursuing. I haven’t stopped creating jewelry for myself, loved ones, friends, strangers and coworkers alike since then.
What I find exciting and unique about my brand and what I do is that I base a jewelry piece through crystal knowledge and energetic intention. For example, if you’re looking for more spiritual protection, I’d create a piece with Tourmaline, Obsidian or Tiger’s Eye. Or if you’re looking to give yourself a bit more love, I’d create a piece with Rose Quartz, Carnelian or Garnet. I love having the opportunity to create something special and specifically curated for someone that will assist them or even uplift and inspire them on their journey.
As of late, I’ve enjoyed setting up shop in Artisan/Vendor markets and whenever I do I always share on my Instagram where I’ll be that month. I’ve also had the very wonderful opportunities to partner up with Stella Vidal from Self.Loveclub1111 in Greynolds Village and her beautiful metaphysical vending machine “Vendy” as well as an Aura reading and Aromatherapy store Auratherapy in the beautiful Wynwood to showcase my pieces.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe that very important pieces of advice I’ve learnt throughout my journey is to 1. Learn what feels good for you, you do not have to go out of your way to make something happen for someone that doesn’t truly align with your vision. 2. Practice makes perfect and mistakes are okay to make. They pave the way for a clearer picture and understanding of who you are and what you want. Also, self-teaching yourself is an amazing way to start. That’s the goal— to START, even if it’s the 300th time that you do. 3. Lastly, even though I feel like there’s so much to share but I’ve recently learnt this one and it is to use your voice to align yourself with the right community, talk to people, share your issues or concerns, share your vision, and allow yourself to listen to other’s knowledge and to be led. You’ll eventually align with the people who will listen and most likely advise on what next steps for your growth and expansion could be.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking for expansion whether it’s personal or professional. I’m a very curious and social person and love to connect with others. I’m currently looking for opportunities where I can get my jewelry into other beautiful stores along with spaces and venues I can vend at, all that aligns with Solares Gems and the intentionality behind it. I love being able to share the love and cultivate a community and friendship with other artists, jewelers, and crystal / metaphysical lovers like myself.
