Meet Essence Weller

We recently connected with Essence Weller and have shared our conversation below.

Essence , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I developed my self-esteem by overcoming the fear of other people’s opinions and relying on myself for gratification. When I see the word Self in front of something, I logically process that it is something that I on my own have to advocate and assert for on my behalf. The only way out is in. I’ve been able to do a lot of soul searching and spend an ample amount of time with myself to really focus on what matters, like how I feel and what I want to accomplish. I always pride myself on being a motivating force in my own life so that I can effectively encourage others with the insight I have gained from being highly self aware. I never focus on what others are doing. I always focus on what I see ahead of me, and what is on my path as new things are always appearing on that path. Once I took fear out as a variable to a lot of things, my confidence grew and aided me from childhood to adulthood. I was always a risk-taker and have always placed all bets on me. Knowing that I have the confidence to carry me through life has helped me to continuously be successful.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

On my day to day, I am an HR/IT Professional with over 15 years of experience navigating major corporations, government infrastructures, start-up companies as well as privately owned organizations. I take pride in my career accomplishments and have a passion for the hustle of changing workforces. Outside of my career profession, I am also an Independent Musician. I have recorded, performed, written for others, co-produced, mentored and established a huge following organically over the course of the past 10+ years. This is my Gift. I was born to be an entertainer, as I come from a musical family. I have a new RNB single titled “Cool With That” that will be released on 11.29.24. This is one of my favorite songs I’ve written and recorded and will showcase another level of my talent. I’m also wrapping up my tour in Brooklyn, Ny with my last show for the year on December 14th on the “Still In Love Tour” powered by @daeveningrushnetwork. I also have a catering company @Eatsbyess which I launched a few years ago after being pushed by family and supporters who would watch me cook on Instagram and Snapchat. I love to cook! This is another passion of mine and I love providing people with a piece of me through food. I grew up with a big family and my family would always cook and feed kids in our neighborhood, It eventually rubbed off on me. I also have a tennis league called “Metro Sisters Circle” that I started with my sister Shaniece Weller and my best friend Angelique Lewis. I can’t believe that this is even a real thing! It’s like a dream!.”Metro Sisters Circle” all started when Angelique’s video of us playing went viral on Tik-Tok. We got so many responses that we had to create a league with weekly meets. We have had a great summer and an amazing turnout every week. Our last meet for the season was actually November 3rd “A Nightmare On The Court” in partnership with Cali-based Tennis Coach Erika Bond of the @allloveraquetclub and the @RCTA based in New York. I also am a content creator and have a media company with my best friend. We create graphics and provide media through content creation for our brands and other brands. I know this sounds overwhelming!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three most impactful skills and combination of Qualities were Active listening, Honesty and Integrity.

All of these listed will help you ultimately survive as well as thrive. I believe everything is on an algorithm, even the universe. What you feed it, it will feed you back. Always uphold your integrity and firmly stand on what you believe. Doing things with honestly will supersede your karmic cycle to ensure good always comes back to you. Active listening includes listening to others, yourself and as well as the universe. If you listen you will always have something to hear. You will always hear what you need to know. The universe is funny in that way.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

In all honestly, gave me life.
