Meet Essi Sings

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Essi Sings a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Essi, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

I avoid burnout by spreading my bookings out and scheduling specific times to relax. The most relaxing days are when I work as little as possible. On regular days, I interchange relaxing and practicing my crafts so I am prepared for my most busy days!

When burnout comes anyway, I need more than one day to process everything and potentially turn the experience into art, such as my newest song ‘Li.F.E’, which is about overstimulation.

Overcoming burnout for me mainly looks like; eating well, moving slowly, sleeping, and viewing other people’s art.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Essi Sings LLC. is an educational resource built to connect artists who love art! The founder of Essi Sings LLC., Essi Sings, has her own music and music videos available and a free trial guitar lesson that doesn’t expire, on www.EssiSings.com, along with blogs and interviews with North Carolina artists. Essi Sings will be releasing a new song and video in the last week of December 2024 with LD Beats, a Raleigh based producer, called ‘Don’tcha Luv’.

NC DROPS is our music blog that spotlights 3-4 of the newest projects from NC artists, while NC TALKS is our interview sector that helps our audience know the artists better. Since one of our main goals is connection, we occasionally throw events to bring everyone together in person after hearing about one another/seeing each other’s art from afar.

Essi Sings LLC. is a response and a resource to avoid those nasty gatekeepers and keep our artist community truly wholesome and about the art. The amount of money or followers you have should not be a factor in if your art is viewed or not!

To be featured in NC DROPS or NC TALKS email [email protected] with the corresponding subject line.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Knowing customer service, marketing, and networking is so important to my field because it’s all talking and relating to people about what I’ve created.

Networking is how you meet people who share the same vision, marketing is how you let people know about what you’re doing, and customer service is imperative in knowing how to properly treat your customers once they arrive.

Practice these three skills by;

treating customers at your day job with kindness, leading with curiosity and not judgment (customer service),

practice telling people what you’re comfortable telling them about your art/events (marketing),

and be open to having conversations with people who may or may not be able to help you (networking).

Make sure you are spending your time wisely and realizing opportunities that might be hidden.

A construction worker may not be able to help you get booked for a show directly, but if they love your art, they have the power to share it, creating a passive way of getting more fans.

Never sleep on word-of-mouth marketing, people usually trust their friends opinions before anyone else’s.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

We are looking for artists and businesses that are fun-loving and truly supportive of artists. NO GATEKEEPERS ALLOWED!

We love companies that uplift creators and dedicate their resources to growing artists’ relationships with each other and potential business partners.

Please reach out to us if you are an artist who would like to be interviewed, or to have your art featured on our website at [email protected]

If you are a business that would like to partner in events or marketing please contact [email protected]
