Meet Ester Olivares

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ester Olivares. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ester , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

To keep my creativity alive, I make it a point to constantly feed my curiosity and stay connected with diverse sources of inspiration. I enjoy exploring new ideas, whether through reading, observing nature, or engaging in conversations with people from various fields. I also believe in the importance of taking time to disconnect, as some of my best ideas often emerge during moments of relaxation. Additionally, I’m not afraid to experiment and make mistakes because each attempt, even if unsuccessful, brings me closer to a more innovative creative solution.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the Founder & Creative Director of Preservedusa, a company specializing in the import and wholesale of high-quality dried and preserved flowers. My journey into this business began with a deep appreciation for the beauty and longevity of preserved botanicals, which I discovered during my travels. What excites me most about this work is the ability to bring a touch of enduring nature into people’s lives and spaces, offering a sustainable alternative to fresh flowers that maintains its charm for years.

At Preservedusa, we pride ourselves on sourcing only the finest preserved flowers from around the world, primarily from Spain and Ecuador, ensuring that each bouquet reflects both quality and artistry. Our customers, ranging from florists to designers, trust us to provide unique, vibrant, and natural arrangements that stand the test of time.

One of the most special aspects of our business is our commitment to sustainability. We believe in offering products that not only beautify spaces but also contribute to a more eco-friendly lifestyle. As we continue to grow, we are excited to expand our product line with new varieties of preserved flowers and to introduce more innovative designs that cater to a wide range of tastes.

Looking ahead, we are working on launching a new collection of floral arrangements that blend traditional aesthetics with modern design elements. This launch represents our ongoing dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with preserved flowers, and I’m eager to share it with our customers and the broader community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I believe the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, creativity, and a deep understanding of my market.

**Resilience** has been crucial because, like any entrepreneurial path, there have been challenges and setbacks. Being able to stay focused, adapt, and keep pushing forward despite difficulties has made all the difference. For those starting out, I’d advise embracing challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Don’t be discouraged by failures; instead, see them as steps toward success.

**Creativity** has also played a vital role, particularly in finding unique ways to stand out in a competitive market. Creativity isn’t just about artistic expression; it’s about problem-solving, innovating, and thinking outside the box. To cultivate creativity, I suggest surrounding yourself with diverse perspectives, staying curious, and allowing yourself time to explore new ideas without judgment.

Finally, having a **deep understanding of my market** has been essential. Knowing my customers’ needs, preferences, and pain points has allowed me to tailor my products and services to meet their demands. For those early in their journey, I recommend investing time in market research and staying attuned to industry trends. Building strong relationships with customers and seeking feedback can also provide invaluable insights.

In sum, resilience, creativity, and market knowledge have been foundational to my journey. By focusing on developing these areas, you can create a strong foundation for your own success.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who values quality, sustainability, and the beauty of nature in their spaces. They are typically individuals or businesses—such as florists, interior designers, event planners, or boutique owners—who appreciate the unique appeal of preserved flowers and are looking for products that offer longevity without compromising on aesthetics.

An ideal client for me is also someone who seeks out distinctive, high-quality products and understands the importance of sustainability in today’s world. They are open to exploring new designs and concepts, and they value the artisanal craftsmanship that goes into creating each of our arrangements.

Moreover, my ideal client is someone who values a collaborative relationship. They communicate their needs and preferences clearly, trust in the expertise we bring, and are excited to work together to create something beautiful. Whether they are looking for a bespoke arrangement for a special event or sourcing products for their own business, they see the value in investing in high-quality preserved flowers that offer both elegance and durability.
