Meet Ethan Webber

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ethan Webber. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Ethan, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

I’d say a mix of my mom and life experience. My mom instilled an idea of consistent hope and optimism within my sister and I when we were kids. When things changed or weren’t going our way, she’d say, “Everything happens for a reason”, and she’s not wrong. Life tends to throw all sorts of curveballs at us, and if we try to catch them with pessimism, I think we get hit. She always showed us how to keep going with a smile and how to hold our heads up when the sky gets heavy. At the same time, I think general life and its challenges made me realize this idea to the fullest extent. A few years ago, I had a thought about life and how it’s uncertain, and that usually scares people. Well, I like to think uncertainty is exciting. Yeah, we don’t know what will happen, but that means something great can happen. If something bad happens, it’s not certain that something good won’t follow. So, life is uncertain, but we decide if that’s a good thing ot a bad thing, no one else. We choose optimism, not gain it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Howdy folks, my name is Ethan Webber! I am a writer, director, and filmmaker based in Savannah, GA. Born and raised outside of Baltimore, MD, I grew up finding a love for movies and storytelling. My creative journey started when I began writing short stories, and has taken me down to the South to study Film and TV at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

As I begin my senior year at SCAD, I look back on several projects I’ve worked on, such as the 2025 murder mystery, “The Last Sip”, 2026 musical romantic drama, “As If Nothing Happened”, and 2026-27 feature horror film, “FEAR 99.9”. All of these projects and more are coming soon, and I am stoked to get them to audiences! All of which will be making runs in film festivals across the globe! I’ve also had great experiences working outside of Savannah, including several company advertisements in West Virginia and post-supervising festival-level short films from CampYATC in California.

My recent personal project, “As If Nothing Happened”, was a co-directing collaboration with my best friend and top-tier filmmaker, Noah Naidoo. He and I made the original short at the end of our freshman year with little time, no money, and lots of energy. As time went by, we realized we could do the story and film way more justice, so we returned to the story and remade the film this past winter. With each of us knowing more about film than we did as 18-year-old freshmen, we dove into the project, eager to raise the bar. The story follows Charlie, a young pianist, as he goes to rehearse his music with his violinist girlfriend, CeCe, only for his past to haunt him to the point that he must face reality. The film is told primarily through Charlie and CeCe’s music and stars SCAD actors Tay Hwang and Chaney Tipton, and is set to release in 2026.

Looking forward, I’m excited to announce my senior thesis capstone film, STRANGERS, a sci-fi romantic dramedy, coming in 2026-27. I’m going to keep things under wraps for now, BUT I’ll leave you with this: What would you do if you went back in time to stop yourself from meeting someone, only to find them there as well, attempting the same?

Stay tuned, friends 🙂

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think if I had to pick three things, or qualities, that have helped me along my journey, they would probably be optimism, passion, and energy. These sound very basic and simple, but when you really think about them, they go such a long way. You have to be optimistic in life, especially in the creative world. Optimism always keeps a door open, even when ten doors close, and we don’t have enough time on this floating rock to stay in one place for too long. Passion is the fuel for all of us, and yeah, I may sound like a hippie or some motivational speaker, but I am so serious. If you have passion, hold onto it and never let the fire die. I have a tattoo on my left arm of a burnt-out match that still has a flame hovering over it. This is my reminder that even when I’m burnt out, I must keep the fire going or else I’ll lose my way in the dark. Last but not least, energy! We as people need energy as much as possible. I’m not saying energy in the sense of getting enough sleep or drinking a RedBull, but showing up to life with the desire to crush it. Energy lets us as people make every moment count and in this life we only get so many moments, so if you’re like me, start showing up with energy.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am very eager to dive into music video production, as music is a major inspiration for my storytelling. I am in development with an artist from American Idol for a music video series, and I am excited to collaborate with more artists! If anyone is a musician or singer/songwriter and wants to put their stories on the screen, I am here and ready to rock and roll! I’m a big indie, country, and pop fan, but I never shy away from a genre! If you are interested in collaborating, please reach out to me via email ([email protected]) or Instagram (@ethanwebbers / @webber_originals). Let’s make some cool stuff!
