Hi Eugene , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from the struggles that I dealt with in my life. Constantly changing schools and always being the new kid in the classroom and learning how to adapt to not only the students but also the teachers. Growing up in a city then moving to the suburbs where I was one of the only few colored people in my classes dealing with a great deal of racism throughout grammar school and high school. I somehow always found a way to become resilience and not let those situations break me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Eugene Campbell III and I am a New Jersey native from Jersey City. I am currently playing professional basketball in my 5th year and 8th country. I currently play for Shabab Bushra in Jordan’s premier league. I the Ceo and founder of Walkamilenourshoes Inc. 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless population providing them with sneakers clothes and living essentials. I am an alumni of New Jersey City University where I earned my bachelors and Master’s degree in Psychology with a 3.76 GPA in Undergrad and a 3.6 GPA in Graduate school. What is unique about me is my growth I am always seeking growth and improvement whether it’s for myself or my organization. The biggest thing I have been focusing on is perfecting my craft in basketball with the ultimate goal of winning a championship before its all said and done and making sure that Walkamilenourshoes gets as much exposure and recognition so that the organization can grow and we can give back on a larger scale.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are resilience, ambition and fearless. I had nothing to lose when I was grinding to follow my dreams and I am very big on the concept of you only live once, so I do my best to take advantage of every day that I am given. My best advice for people out their trying to reach their goals is to stay consistent and learn how to be comfortable being uncomfortable. In life there is going to be many obstacles they we face but as long as you stay consistent through the ups and downs you will be successful in whatever it is that you want to do.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to partner with the National Basketball Association in some way. It could be any team in the NBA. I want Walkamilenourshoes to collaborate with the NBA in collecting and donating sneakers and clothes to those in need. I am a big basketball fan and a very dedicated athlete to the game so working with the biggest basketball program in the world to help others would be a dream come true. I’m slowly working towards that now and I will get that opportunity soon. 2025 is not ready!!!
