Meet Eugene Stillman

We were lucky to catch up with Eugene Stillman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Eugene , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from just being in life experiences, I believe every challenge you overcome in life, you will become more stronger and better.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Back in 2022 I started Black Diamond I was brainstorming sitting at home with Covid I was thinking what else do I want to do besides working a job, my thoughts were just racing back and forth then boom than fashion came to my mind.

However I’ve always been into fashion since I could remember, goth and punk fashion, the alternative and uncommon stuff had my interest. So one day I decided to put that passion into reality and the goal was to make uncommon things affordable, growing up I couldn’t wear punk/goth clothing because of my upbringing and the community, especially I didn’t have money in those times.

My goal for black diamond is to be bigger than a clothing line, that is just one additional layer to it, I want to do more things that impact our communities and neighborhoods etc.

I’ve always been different, I’ve always been a misfit, I believe stepping outside the box. I believe in wearing things that that make me confident and unapologetic. I wear things that outside the culture norm and inspiring others to be different.

My favorite sayings is Build the legacy that outlives you, I believe everyone has a purpose on this earth or calling.

When you find your purpose in life, you’ll find your gifts and talents, the reason to keep living and going.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back the qualities, skills or areas that were most impactful in my journey, I would have to say toughness and receiving important feedback from others.

My advice for people starting early in their journey, I have a strategy, find your passion, be humble and willing to learn, be open to different opportunities, network with others.

Get all the information and knowledge while you can.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Keeping God first and I believe those foundations keep me strong and rooted.

Having strong foundations in life is the
best thing, when stuff gets difficult I know how to bounce back because the foundations build don’t fall or collapse.
