Meet Eugenie Spirito

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Eugenie Spirito a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Eugenie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Since I was a girl of 5 or 6, I could hear my Higher Self or Intuition talking to me in my gut. When I listened, things felt right; when I didn’t, I felt off. Since then, this inner voice has been my compass with all my major life decisions. I have made incorrect decisions in my life but, when I’ve done so, they do not last long because I have learned to pivot quickly and bring about the change that is needed to make a more appropriate choice for a happier life. No one else can do that for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

No matter what I am doing in my life or which hat I am wearing – giving shiatsu massage or carving stone sculpture –
I try and be of service and give from my heart and connect with others at a soul level. I want to feel who they are. When I provide someone with a sculpture, I want it to be healing for them, with a calming sense of beauty. If I am giving a shiatsu massage, I want it to provide a catalyst to help them heal themselves. It is exciting to see people happy with something I have given.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

#1) Trust yourself. If something does not feel right, get out of the way and trust that something more suited is meant for you. A failed attempt or false start is just to get your feet wet. A trial run. It will be okay; there will be more and better opportunities.
#2) Never take ‘NO’ for an answer. As long as you do no harm to anyone else, where there is a will there is a way to accomplish your goal. As you work to do that, the goal might change and turn out even better than you expected if you stay open and allow it.
#3) Know you’re worth. Never take abuse from anyone. Emotional or physical.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle taught me to be Mindful; to focus my intention moment to moment, to know that I am in control of my emotions, that no one else can make me sad or mad. Breath. Pause. Then think about what intention I want to have for this part of my day. Hour by hour. Minute by minute. This is big.
