Meet Eva García Luna

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eva García Luna. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Eva, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

I learned how to listen to my body and now follow an intuition nutrition and exercise which consist of listen to my body in what it wants and needs, without putting too much pressure on me, is something that feels easier and more natural to do, I just connected my mind, body, and spirit. Also I combine some spiritual alternative practices like gratefulness, meditation, reiki, yoga.
And the impact has been enormousness now I feel with energy again and capable of doing everything I want; I can now accomplish my dreams. It took me years to get here, but I’m happy with the results, it feels like I’m starting again, but also it feels I’m not, because now I’m starting with experience and taking care of myself more than ever which at the end is the most important. If I feel good everything else is possible.
My mistake was leaving myself care to the end when is the most important, without health you cannot accomplish anything else.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a singer/songwriter and actress, who was diagnosed with hypothyroid 8 years ago. I’ve been a very hyperactive person my whole life, but suddenly I started to feel very tired and sleepy all the time at the beginning I didn’t know what was, but it was affecting my performance as a singer and actress, because I didn’t have enough energy to even do my daily routine, simple things like taking a shower were making me very tired, at that time also my mom was sick with cancer, so I was more focused on her than me and I though probably I was just depress for what I was going through. I went to the doctors, and they said I was fine, but I wasn’t feeling well, until my mom hears one of her friends saying that she has hypothyroid and her symptoms where very similar to mine, so actually my mom was the one that suggested a hormone test. The results came out and finally the doctor told me you have Hypothyroid disease, he ask me for more medical tests and finally he got me the right amount of hormones that I needed to function, because my thyroid were not producing them enough, three years letter my mom died, it was a very dark moment, but my mom told me before she died “Please don’t give up”, so I decided don’t to give up. My health was still very bad despite the medicine, my career as a singer and actress was stuck, I was going through a lot emotionally and also physically, I discover that the medicine wasn’t enough to make me feel like I used to be full of energy, so I started to read more about hypothyroid, and everything that has to be with been healthy and I discovered that it was necessary to take care of myself, physically, mentally and spiritually. I did my own research and everything that I found and thought it will possible helped me I tried it to feel better and recovered myself, because thanks to this disease I did not feel myself anymore, I was always depress, without energy, gaining weight without no reason, loosing hair, among other horrible things, it was very painful to see myself like that, so I really wanted to get better and to find a solution, that’s how I discovered wellness coaching and I decided certified on that, at the beginning I did it for myself, because I needed it, but then I discovered other people need it as much as I do, so I started taking care of myself, but also helping others taking care of themselves, I started shearing tips with other people on my social media and that’s how I became a wellness coach for myself and others.

*What is a wellness coach?
A wellness coach works one-on-one with individuals who want to improve their health and well-being.

Losing weight
Reducing stress
Eating a healthier diet
Achieving better work-life balance
Increasing life satisfaction
Prioritizing self-care
Practicing a positive mindset

My mistake was leaving myself care to the end when is the most important, without health you cannot accomplish anything else.

Since then, I started to have more energy to keep pursuing my singing and acting career. I sing Mexican regional music Mariachi, but lately I have been doing some opera also. I’m planning in going to Italy to study classical music and keep going with my wellness coach programs online.
Many people asked me, but “What are you doing as a wellness coach if you are a singer?” and I’m like, I can do both and more, I can be everything I want and now I have the energy to do it. If I can be a singer I will keep singing because music heals and is part of my journey, helping others and myself to heal and if I can help people to develop new healthy habits that change their lives for the better, I will do it also and I’m happy with that.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
First been persistent and never give up. Second very determined to find and to achieve what a want.
Third learn to love and take care of myself.
My advice is trust your journey, everything at the end will make sense, just be your best where ever you are at.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Is hard to choose one, I love books, but if I have to choose, I will choose two “The Alchemist” from Paolo Coelho and “A return to love” from Marianne Williamson The Alchemist:
1.-“One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.”
2.-“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
3.-“People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.”
4.-“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
5.-“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”
6.-“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
7.-“There is only one way to learn. It’s through action. Everything you need to know you have learned through your journey.”

A Return to Love:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people
will not feel insecure around you.
We were born to make and manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
