Meet Evan Baranosky

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Evan Baranosky. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Evan below.

Hi Evan, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

A quote comes to mind, that I believe sums up perfectly how I found my purpose, is by Dr. David Viscott, who was a psychiatrist and author. He said, “The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The work of life is to develop it. The meaning of life is to give your gift away.”

To dissect this quote, I understand it as your sense of purpose comes when you’re doing what you love, but most importantly, what are you giving back.

It took me many years to really truly understand what this purpose thing is all about. Am I meeting my goals? Am I happy with the quality of my life? Do I feel fulfilled? When complacent in life, all those answers are yes. However, deep down, those true answers were no, and I see that now. I did not see it then though. What I was feeling was comfort at those moments. Two things that were keeping me from truly understanding and unlocking my purpose were fear, and mindset.

It is funny, when I faced the fear, and adjusted my mindset, I truly did find a purpose. It wasn’t an easy path, and it still isn’t, but with the right mindset, the right community you surround yourself with, and following your passion, achieving your purpose every day is possible.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Evan Baranosky, and professionally, I consider myself a dream maker and business growth mentor, (however, my actual job title is Commercial Banker) and I am with Hancock Whitney Bank in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. I am passionate about building relationships with North Texas business owners and entrepreneurs while providing solutions based on their needs to help their businesses grow, improve cashflow, and manage risks. Every day is special to me due to the scope of work each client needs. Let it be to acquire a new company, help a retail store owner purchase their first building, assist with improving cash flow, or even by providing guidance on a successful business exit. Building a strong and meaningful banking relationship is the impact I strive to facilitate with the clientele I serve.

Personally though, my story would not be where it is today without my wonderful family and support system. I am a girl dad to two fiery, high-spirited little girls, and married to a magnificent woman. When discussing finding my purpose, my family is a large part in me discovering my purpose, they have helped mold me into who I am today. My story isn’t a story without them.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Curiosity- As a human, we are naturally inclined to be inquisitive. Reflect on your passions and interests and be open to learning new experiences.

Determination-Charging ahead and being committed to achieving your goals

Authenticity- Being genuine and true to who you are is fundamental, showing people your true self allows people to trust your character.

Practicing these three skills through any journey will provide a strong basis for growth on any journey

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The book that sticks out most to me is “Shaken” by Tim Tebow. The book was powerful and very encouraging with a message to keep moving and stay strong while battling life’s obstacles. In life you’re going to have highs and lows. There are going to be great times, and there are going be tough times. Realizing that tough times do not define you though, which was a HUGE step in my personal development.
