We were lucky to catch up with Ezgi Sertcetin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Ezgi with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
“I grew up in Turkey, where the culture emphasizes being polite and respectful towards others, especially within the family. It also teaches the value of hard work and dedication to one’s business. The point is not about which bike you ride; no matter what bike it is, you just start pedaling, and that’s the key to success. Of course, it’s important to love what you do, but as they say, the real key is to respect your work and keep pedaling. This mindset is also very common in the USA, where hard work and perseverance are seen as major drivers of success. Embracing this approach can be a big opportunity for achieving success, no matter where you are.”
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
“I am an artist specializing in abstract artwork, using resin and various other mediums to create pieces that bridge the gap between traditional and modern art. I have a gallery in Boca Raton, but due to my involvement in other business ventures, I’m no longer able to focus solely on my artwork. It’s not an easy balance to maintain. In addition, I own the brand Ezgi Sertcetin, which manufactures premium professional art supplies for artists and art enthusiasts of all skill levels. Our supplies are ready-to-use and easy to apply, allowing even those without prior artistic experience to create professional-quality artwork in just minutes. Art is my passion, and my business allows me to share that passion with others.”
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
“It is important to believe in yourself and in what you do or want to do. Without a strong connection to what you’re working on, you will never truly succeed. Belief in your work, combined with doing it to the best of your ability, is key. Passion and interest are essential drivers of success. Of course, knowledge plays a crucial role as well, but experience is what brings knowledge to life and elevates it to another level. There’s no one-size-fits-all path to follow, but your skills are closely tied to your interests. If you weren’t skilled in a particular area, you probably wouldn’t have the interest in pursuing it in the first place.”
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
“Life can be very tough at times, especially when you’re a wife and mother. There are always other priorities—family, children, your husband, and work—and trying to balance all of them can bring stress at any moment. When I find myself in a stressful situation, I usually turn to my husband for support. He always knows what to say and offers practical advice, which gives me a sense of protection. Of course, one of the greatest joys in life is simply cuddling with my daughters. I have two amazing girls, Talia and Lina, and they have this incredible ability to lift my spirits and take away my stress and negativity in an instant.”
