We were lucky to catch up with Fabi Lima recently and have shared our conversation below.
Fabi, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I haven’t. I think this is one of the most challenging aspects of life. Purpose…We spend most of our early years trying to find what sparks our soul, and as we grow older we question ourselves more and more because there is a core belief that we must know what we want to do with our lives by a certain age. We constantly compare ourselves to what we see on the media or what we hear from people around us. Reality is that most of us have no clue what to do, or where to find the ‘spark’. So, here I am, sitting in my 9-5 office on a Sunday afternoon trying to figure it all out so I can pursue my dreams. This has been a big subject this year, and it seems like it haunts a lot of people around me as well. It’s almost the end of 2023 and I still feel like I haven’t gotten anywhere yet, but you know what? That’s okay, I think the best we can do is to take one day at a time, and sometimes one minute at a time. (This is easier said than done lol) and when we least expect it; it will come.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a painter, a writer and founder of LIME Art, and honestly I think the most exciting part of what I do is learning more about myself through my art. I usually love painting with oil and resin and both of these mediums have taught me to be forgiving and let go of control, I’ve used both of these as a tool for healing and expression of my deepest insecurities, and one of my goals is to hopefully be able to transmit that to my audience – a sense of calmness and hope – I am currently exploring with digital art, specially because I can’t take my studio everywhere I go, so I’ve been slowly but surely expanding my portfolio and creating new content to be released by 2024, so stay tuned looney toons!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
For me, meditation, discipline and a lot of inner work! My best advice for anyone starting on their journey is to never give up. Some days will be harder than others but push yourself to show up, even in the smallest ways, it will make a big difference. The journey doesn’t have to be linear, it will always be different for everyone, and the best we can do is to embrace it, and learn how to fall in love with the process regardless of the circumstances. Just show up!
For me, I have not been the most consistent with my art, there is months where I am at the studio every chance I get, just like there’s periods of time where I don’t even paint or write, and I’m learning to make my peace with it and understand that it’s all part of the process, just keep reminding yourself that it doesn’t have to be perfect.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes! Yes! Yes! I’m open to collaborate with anyone who is trying to grow and create! From business owners to artist! I’m open and ready to connect. Reach me at hello@limesart.com
