Fabian, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I discovered my purpose through a series of experiences that led me to reevaluate my priorities and values. One defining moment for me was when I faced a significant setback in a sport that I had invested a great deal of myself in. As I grappled with failure and a sense of loss, I began to introspect and examine what truly mattered to me in life. It became evident that my faith, my relationship with God, my family, and the desire to help others were the cornerstones of my existence.
I found it remarkable how swiftly life can shift, presenting new opportunities or abruptly closing doors without much warning. Being cut from the D1 college baseball team served as a pivotal moment that forced me to reevaluate my path and discern what I truly stood for. This experience grounded me in all the right ways.
During this period of self-reflection, I stumbled upon an insightful interview where a woman spoke about the concept of depth. She described individuals with depth as those who have encountered diverse situations, made decisions, and wholeheartedly pursued their chosen paths. These individuals, she noted, often possessed an entrepreneurial mindset. This notion resonated deeply with me and helped me make sense of my journey.
It was around this time that I realized, merely two weeks into my first job in college, that I yearned to make a profound impact on as many lives as possible. I aspired to provide a transformative service that could positively change the course of someone’s life. This realization became the driving force behind my purpose and ignited my passion to embark on a path where I could make a difference.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In the college year of 2018, I embarked on a journey to make a significant impact in my community, which led to the birth of BHD. I launched the Blessed Humbled Determined podcast show, where I had the privilege of interviewing aspiring entrepreneurs, creators, and individuals who were making a remarkable difference in Las Cruces.
Back then, my vision for BHD extended beyond just a podcast. I envisioned a versatile brand that could span multiple areas of expertise, including marketing, sports education, and content creation. However, during that time, I decided to focus on what I was truly passionate about—podcasting and videography—as I pursued my bachelor’s degree.
In 2021, I brought BHD with me to Arizona, determined to take it to new heights. I aimed to connect with like-minded creators, business owners, and individuals who aligned with the values and spirit of BHD.
Fast forward to present day, 2023, and BHD has successfully completed two seasons of the podcast, featuring incredible individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the world. Now, we are gearing up for the most exceptional season yet, which will take place in my hometown of Las Cruces, NM. It is my heartfelt mission to return to my community and shine a spotlight on the greatness that resides there—the hardworking business owners and individuals who embody the spirit of BHD while living life to the fullest.
Furthermore, BHD has recently launched an exciting new initiative called the BHD Athlete Advisor Program. This program provides a space for high school and college athletes to engage in one-on-one sessions with me, where we create action plans covering essential topics such as Mental Strength, Time Management, Balancing Athletics and Academics, Nutrition and Body Development, Goal Setting, and Recruiting Tips. Our goal is to equip these exceptional athletes with the knowledge and education they need to thrive, giving them the best opportunity to excel in their college sports journey while enjoying their time as student-athletes.
With every passing day, I am committed to polishing and refining BHD, ensuring its continuous growth and impact. It is my honor and privilege to serve my community, empowering individuals, and making a difference through the diverse platforms and services that BHD offers.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Regardless of whatever you choose to do in life, fully commit to the hustle, learn from your failures, be consistent and genuine, and always make it a point to help someone else from time to time.
Having all the education and skills in the world doesn’t automatically make you a good person. People don’t buy from a brand; they buy from the person they interact with on a daily basis.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always open to collaborating with like-minded individuals! Meeting new people and exchanging ideas or tips to benefit various industries is something I truly enjoy. The work I do and what BHD stands for is not uncommon, and I welcome fresh ideas and perspectives into my space.
However, one important factor I consider is the intentions of the people I collaborate with. I have no interest in working with individuals who are solely focused on making quick money. Money-hungry mindsets do not align well with me or the values of my brand. My priority is creating genuine content that resonates with a wide audience and has the potential to lead to meaningful partnerships over time.
