We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Faith Conte a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Faith, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Being creative isn’t something thats always come easy it’s a struggle at most. But realizing you can make anything and everything creative in your own way is what helps me. Everyone see’s everything around them differently. For me my creativity is shown through my photography. A hundred people can take the exact same image but tell multiple different stories with various emotions. It’s what helps me keep doing my passion for photography. I take an image and create something thats different from others point of view.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Photography is something i always wanted to do since i was in elementary school i wanted to travel the world taking pictures. As i got older and got more into it photography became my passion. I started branching out trying different things I wanted to find my thing. It wasn’t until my junior year when I discovered Automotive photography when a friend asked me to take pictures of their car. After that i started exploring more into it. Slowly and slowly automotive photography became my thing. A year into it i got an offer to join a media team. It was an amazing opportunity for someone like me who was new and was trying to start a platform. I met amazing people who helped me learn I was surrounded by an amazing community. Later on I met my boyfriend who also is a automotive photographer and we started shooting together. We bought 2 of our dream cameras. Later on the idea came up of starting our own media team together.
something we can call ours and do something bigger with our photography. But we couldn’t think of a name we wanted. A couple weeks later we were walking around a car show and the name popped into my boyfriends head “Sentury Media”. So from there we were set we created our media account. We want to use it to show photography isn’t about clicking a button and share our work to others. we want to create our own community and start something together.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
something i learned thats been impactful for my journey is learning from others don’t be scared to ask questions. and believe in your work when others don’t. Through high school I had a photography teacher who didn’t truly believe in my work and never taught me the things i needed. So everything I know i have learned myself but most importantly is what ive gathered from others and i believed in my work and what i was doing.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
one of the most impactful things my parents did and still do for me is just support and believe in me. My parents have always been my biggest supporters in all my life decisions specifically with my photography and it’s something that will always keep me going and something ill always be grateful for.
