We were lucky to catch up with Faith Ellis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Faith, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Optimism, for me, has been a daily practice. Many people have to make a conscious, daily effort to rewire their brain into seeing the good in everything. I’m naturally a realist, which can sometimes come off as pessimistic, but throughout my life I’ve turned more optimistic. In part this has been through reading books that discuss mindset shifts or listening to podcasts, and putting those messages into practice by actively identifying the good in everyday situations.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have worked in fitness for years, but the past year now I have been developing The KettleBelle and our app, Howdy. This is a fitness and wellness hub for women that focuses on physical strength, mindset, and nutrition. Through this brand, we also hold local pop-up classes in Burlington, North Carolina, as well as women’s retreats.
I love the brand because it’s inspiring, but it’s also bringing people together, whether online or within our community. Burlington has a lot of small businesses and we’ve collaborated with local coffee shops, Aesthetics and Estheticians, as well as other food venues and gyms. It’s a bunch of fun seeing everyone come together over fitness and movement.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
It’s been impactful that my professional background is in marketing, as that is such a core component when it comes to starting and running a business. I’ve had an opportunity to apply what I am learning or experimenting with directly to my business. Additionally, the ability to stay positive and grit are crucial skills and ones that often take honing and practicing. Whether it’s a business or just life, there are always going to be moments when you want to quit and maintaining a good attitude and outlook and showing up everyday even when you don’t feel like it will make all the difference.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I read a lot, typically self-growth books in the morning with my journaling, and I save the thriller fiction for the evening. One of the most impactful reads I’ve had lately is Vex King’s Good Vibes, Good Life because it’s an easy read but it really does help you stay on that positive mindset journey. He’s such a good writer and such an inspiring and impactful individual.
