We were lucky to catch up with Faith Murphy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Faith , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
For me, being empathetic, generous, and simply being kind to others comes from a deep desire that others feel heard and seen. There have been moments in my life where I wish I had been heard and seen more as I was facing difficult trials and even on just a normal regular day. As an adult, I often put myself in others shoes, sometimes even to a fault, and I over analyze how a situation may effect another individual. To my core, I truly care about how my impact on others will be perceived, through conversations, acts of service, and all types of interactions. I strive to put my best foot forward and be a beacon of light to those around me. I actively listen and come from a place of understanding during situations and give my time, attention, and talents to those around me who are in need.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi! My name is Faith and I am a co-owner of Bound By Grace Media (BBG). Long story short, I get to live out my passion and dream, helping other entrepreneurs have the tools needed to turn a dream into a successful business through branding, marketing, and web design services!
The best part about all of it? I get to work with my 2 best friends! We met during the Covid pandemic and decided to take a leap in starting a business together, all while never having met one another in person. It has been such an incredible ride and has been nothing short of a call from God.
I love that I am at a place in my life where I get to share my talents with others and help people put the pieces together to launch or rebrand their company! As a mother of two, I understand how challenging it can be to truly put yourself and your dreams at the top of your never ending to do list. At BBG, we specifically LOVE working with other mompreneurs who are looking to take those next steps from mommying to owning their own business!
If you are looking for a brand identity, professional logo design, social media marketing consulting or services, digital marketing services, a website or any of those updated, set up a free 20 minute call with our team and let’s chat about how we can best serve you and lift some of your burdens!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Gosh, if I could give advice to myself 3 years ago and to others who are early in their entrepreneurship journey, it would be stay humble. Understand that there WILL be unknowns as a business owner that you will come across and you have to cross each bridge as you get to them. Realizing that you may not have all of the tools and knowledge for each thing that will come up is OK! Seek out advice from others who have walked where you are now and do not be afraid to reach out and ask questions!
That brings me to my next piece of advice: Network. network. network. It is really all about WHO YOU KNOW, and who knows YOU! Connect with other business professionals, those in your local community, and spreading awareness about who you are, what you do, and WHY you do what you do; it is vital to build up a supportive tribe around you. These connections will not only lead to leads, but friendships, mentors, and countless other unforeseen relationships. It is never too early to start networking!
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
This last year has taught me a lot personally, as a business owner, as a friend, wife, mother… all the things! If I had to pinpoint one area of growth I would say strengthening my relationship with myself. These last 12 months I have had to dig deep within myself to truly find out what brings me happiness (and I am seeking those things out regularly?), am I taking too much on (and how can I delegate or create better time management to help my to do’s feel more manageable?), are the relationships I am investing time in being reciprocated (and if not, how can I respectfully let them know and pivot accordingly?), and so many more. Being true to myself and listening to my body, my mind, my soul is the foundation for everything I pile on top of it. At my core, I need to be strong and sound in order to be able to accomplish the other things in life that will come my way.
