We recently connected with Faith Ray Dinschel and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Faith, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My mother and step Dad. I watched both of them at a very young age prioritize work. I had my first job at 14 years old and instantly dove head first into working as much as I could.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a boudoir photographer, and I have the absolute privilege of helping women see themselves in a whole new light. From the moment they walk in, I provide everything they need for a luxurious, empowering experience, professional hair and makeup, a curated studio wardrobe, styling guidance, and a safe, welcoming space right in the comfort of my own home.
It’s a day of transformation, self-love, and confidence, and I get to witness that magic unfold. I get to play dress-up, create art, and capture stunning images that remind women of their beauty and strength and honestly, it’s the best job in the world. I truly love what I do, and the reward is in every smile, every tear, and every moment of empowerment I get to be a part of.
I recently opened my own greenhouse studio, and another section of my property is dedicated to a creative scene. It’s a an eclectic western wallscape for photographers to rent out.
This year I have opened up my studio, pool, greenhouse, and property to photographers. I want us all to be able to create here.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The biggest and most important is Time Management, organization, and ongoing education. Time management is more than just being punctual, it’s about consistently showing up early, delivering what you promise, and providing exceptional customer service with professionalism and reliability. It builds trust and sets the tone for a strong client experience.
Organization is just as crucial. Whether you’re naturally gifted at keeping things in order or you’ve built systems over time, staying organized is key to managing everything from client files and emails to inventory and décor. A smooth workflow starts with structure.
Lastly, education keeps your business relevant. It’s not about having a degree, it’s about staying current. That means learning new photography techniques, staying on top of trends in lighting, editing, AI tools like Photoshop or Lightroom, and even paying attention to music and aesthetics that influence visual storytelling. In an industry that moves fast, staying educated ensures your work stays fresh, modern, and aligned with what today’s clients are looking for.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My business coach. I hired her before I even had a website or a paying client. I am still with her and this fall will be 4 years together.
