We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Faith Streng a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Faith, so excited to have you with us today and we are really interested in hearing your thoughts about how folks can develop their empathy? In our experience, most folks want to be empathic towards others, but in a world where we are often only surrounded by people who are very similar to us, it can sometimes be a challenge to develop empathy for others who might not be as similar to us. Any thoughts or advice?
I love this question, and carrying empathy is a critical part of my work as a Spiritual Healer and Coach. There are four major aspects of my life that have instructed my gifts as an empath. The first was watching my mother work. Growing up I saw her as teacher, and also as a program director for mentally disabled adults. She has always sought out how to be of service to those who are most vulnerable, and absorbing that as a young person affected me strongly.
The second is my background as a performer. I spent nearly 30 years studying acting and acting professionally. Acting requires that you have empathy for all characters you play, even the dark ones. It is impossible to read great scripts and portray a variety of characters with different life experiences without empathy.
Like all people who are called to healing, I’ve experienced hardship in my life. Poverty and debt, chronic pain and major surgery, substance abuse, toxic relationships, depression and feelings of failure – I’ve been there. My experiences used to seem so pointless….until now when I am able to hold space for people no matter what kind of challenges they are facing.
And lastly, my love of reading and literature. I am so fortunate that I was always encouraged to read. Studies have proven that reading fiction cultivates empathy. Now, I see clients from all over the world from all different backgrounds, and it is because my ability to relate to them on a personal level that they feel safe with me. Without that trust, the deep levels of my work would not be possible.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a 3rd Generation Spiritual Healer, Reiki Master, Channel and Coach. I use a variety of modalities including past life healing, chakra balancing, and psychic development work, to help my clients clear subconscious beliefs in order to step into joyful and deliberate creation.
Clients find me when they feel they’ve outgrown therapy, or when past life healing has been calling them, or when they are eager to explore their own intuitive abilities. I offer 1:1 sessions, group programs, digital products, and spiritual retreats around the world. Community is particularly important to me, and I love creating spaces for both my clients, and for other entrepreneurs.
I combine Akashic healing, energy healing, channeling, and spiritual life coaching into a fast-paced, loving, and activating experience. My mother and grandmother were past life healers, and my grandfather was part of a famous ET channeling group. I have taken this training from my lineage and allowed it to evolve organically into what I offer today.
I love what I do because it answers WHY to so many questions my clients have. For example, why they have a challenging relationship with their family, why they are romantically attracted to the same kind of unhealthy person, and why they can’t move past money blocks. Utilizing all of these modalities not only gives people answers, but also an empowered pathway forward to a more fulfilling life.
In March 2025 I will be hosting the Ascend to Bliss: A 5-Day Sound Healing and Soul Channeling Retreat at Mount Shasta. This is going to be an opportunity to deeply relax, connect with the land, and open up your channels to receive guidance from your spiritual team!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would consider the three things that were most impactful for my journey to be resilience, curiosity, and profound self-examination.
For anyone just starting out, whether on the spiritual path or the entrepreneurial, you have to give yourself time to blossom. These things cannot be rushed. Feelings of urgency will always hold you back. When I have felt defeated or overwhelmed, I (eventually!) am able to return to affirmations of, “Somehow someway I WILL figure this out. Solutions will be revealed.” And somehow someway they always are.
Whatever your direction in life, how you manage stress is key. Stress is an important factor in growth, and the more we can acclimate our bodies to handle it in a healthy way, the greater strides we can make. I think of resilience as the ability to keep moving forward. I give myself time to be disappointed, to grieve, and to be frustrated when things don’t go my way….and then I open myself up to the potential of another opportunity. Giving up isn’t an option, and it shouldn’t be for anyone who has a clear vision. There will be left turns and side roads, but those are all still moving you forward. I tell my clients to keep a picture or a note to themselves that is easily accessible so they can look at it whenever they need to be reminded of what they are creating.
For people who want to cultivate curiosity I suggest saying YES as much as possible. Try new things. Go to new places. Push yourself. Nothing that feels dangerous obviously, but explore other ideas, cultures, and beliefs. Those experiences bring new inspiration to your life and work!
Profound self-examination is key because if you don’t know yourself you can’t really help yourself. And not the you your environment has created – the real, raw authentic you. Being confident in knowing what brings you joy, what you’re good at, what is challenging for you, and what absolutely not does feel good in your body are super powers!
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is someone who has been pursuing the spiritual path for at least three years. They have tried other modalities and have already experienced a great deal of growth. Now they are committed to rising to the next level of consciousness and deliberate creation.
My avatar clients remember having open psychic channels when they were young, and there is an urge to return to them. They know that deep down they are joyful, abundant, and creative, and they believe it’s possible to exist authentically. The thought of magic lights them up and they are fascinated by the cosmos. These people have survived through trauma, and are prepared to rewrite their story around it. They are kind and compassionate, but resistant to self-love. They don’t know why they carry deep self-punishment programs, but they are willing to step into a new consciousness.
These souls feel the weight of the world. They have often felt on the outside of things or like a “black sheep'” in their families. They are longing for spiritual community.
When we come together and begin to co-create they feel lighter, more empowered, and more positive. The unknown no longer brings fear, and they learn how to harness their emotions in a healthy way. Resentment fades, forgiveness increases, and self-acceptance deepens. Very quickly. their external realities shift in REALLY exciting ways!
