Meet Fanisha Davis

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Fanisha Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Fanisha below.

Hi Fanisha, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Building my confidence has definitely been a journey, and honestly, it’s something I work on daily. It didn’t happen overnight, and it’s not like I woke up one day and suddenly felt unstoppable. Confidence for me has been a consistent practice, kind of like a muscle that you have to keep strengthening.

One of the biggest tools that helped me is affirmations. I remember realizing that the way I spoke to myself mattered so much. There was a time when I didn’t always feel like I was enough, and the negative self-talk was so real. But as I started incorporating daily affirmations into my routine, I noticed a shift. Every morning, I’d remind myself of my worth, my power, and the value I bring, and over time, I started to believe it more and more.

Affirmations became a way to reprogram how I saw myself. It wasn’t just about saying them for the sake of saying them—it was about feeling the energy behind the words and truly embodying them. It’s a daily practice. Some days are harder than others, but I’ve learned to be gentle with myself on those days and keep showing up for me.

Now, I’m at a place where my confidence isn’t just tied to how I look or what I accomplish, but it’s rooted in knowing who I am, what I stand for, and the value I bring to every space I step into. And when I remind myself of that daily, I carry myself with a sense of assurance that I didn’t have before.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Growing up, I faced many challenges. My father was killed when I was just two years old, and my mother struggled with addiction, a battle that continues to this day. Without stable guidance and facing poverty, I often lacked adequate clothing and became a target of teasing and bullying. Despite these circumstances, a turning point came when a teacher, Miss Simpson, noticed my struggles. Miss Simpson, known for her strictness and high expectations, saw something in me that others, including me overlooked. She reached out, provided me with food, clothing, and, most importantly, encouragement. She taught me the value of confidence and began to build me up from the inside out.

I founded Confidently Me Boutique from a deeply personal journey. My experience with Miss Simpson was transformative and I realized that while confidence begins inwardly, outward appearance plays a significant role in how we see ourselves and how the world perceives us. Inspired by this lesson, I began my journey to help women feel empowered through fashion.

I believe that when you look good, you feel good, and with that feeling, you can face the world with your head held high. This goes beyond selling clothes; I aim to help women embrace who they are, regardless of their body type or upbringing, and find the confidence to be themselves. Through Confidently Me Boutique, I am committed to empowering women, one stylish outfit at a time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Prayer. Faith. Resilience.

These three laid the foundation for everything that is Fanisha to this day.

First, I would say prayer is a conversation with God. Who better to talk to than the one who knows you best? I would encourage everyone to give prayer a chance and see how it can carry you through your lows and maintain you in all other seasons of life.

Secondly, faith. Faith in God is the belief, trust, and confidence in His existence, nature, and promises. It involves a deep, personal relationship, relying on His wisdom, love, and guidance in all aspects of life. Faith often manifests in trusting God’s plan, even in difficult or uncertain circumstances, and believing that He is present, compassionate, in all our lives.

Finally, resilience is what I found when I put the first two into practice daily. It is that “something”, that no matter what I am facing in my life that will not allow me to give up. No matter what.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

When it comes to collaborations, I’m very intentional about who I align myself with. For me, it’s all about working with people who share the same values of empowerment, authenticity, and making a real impact, especially within the Black community. I’m always looking to collaborate with individuals and brands who uplift and celebrate Black women, whether it’s through fashion, lifestyle, or personal development. I want to partner with people who don’t just talk about empowerment but live it—those who understand that confidence is a daily practice, just like I do. I’m drawn to collaborators who are unapologetically themselves, who embrace their own journey and encourage others to do the same. Whether it’s other fashion influencers, empowerment coaches, or brands that cater to Black women, it’s important that they share my mission of helping women step into their power through style and self-love.

Authenticity is everything to me. I’m not interested in surface-level partnerships. I want to build genuine relationships with people who are committed to making an impact, because that’s the core of what I’m doing with my brand. We need to be on the same wavelength when it comes to creating something meaningful and lasting for our audience. Ultimately, I’m looking for collaborators who inspire confidence in others, who bring value to women’s lives, and who understand that representation and empowerment in fashion go hand in hand. It’s all about creating a space where Black women feel seen, celebrated, and unstoppable. Connect with me anytime on Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook @confidentlyboutique
