Meet Farah ‘Firefly’ Mitha

We recently connected with Farah ‘Firefly’ Mitha and have shared our conversation below.

Farah ‘Firefly’, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Honestly… I didn’t always have it. In fact, for most of my life, I silently battled what I now call an “invisible dis-ease”: the deep, painful belief that I wasn’t good enough.
From a young age, I became obsessed with being “better” — smarter, thinner, prettier, nicer — anything that might make me feel like I was finally enough. I thought if I got perfect grades and never made mistakes, I’d earn my worth. But all of that striving was coming from a place of fear, not love.
It took years, tears, and a lot of inner work to get to where I am today. The turning point came when I started learning about the subconscious mind and how our beliefs are formed. I realized our brains function like a social media algorithm — filtering the world based on what we already believe. So if your core belief is “I’m not enough,” your brain will keep showing you evidence to prove it — while filtering out the positive stuff that contradicts it.
That hit me hard. Because it meant that if I wanted to feel different, I had to change the input.
I started rewiring my beliefs — through music, affirmations, new environments, and surrounding myself with people and content that reflected the truth I wanted to believe: that I was worthy, beautiful, and more than enough.
One major breakthrough was around body image. I grew up with undiagnosed body dysmorphia — never feeling comfortable in my own skin. But moments like hearing Rihanna reframe body fluctuations with self-love and power, or receiving compliments in college on the very features I once hated, helped me realize that beauty isn’t a fixed standard — it’s subjective. And I could choose to be the beholder of my own beauty.
That idea changed everything.
Now, instead of trying to mold myself into someone else’s idea of “perfect,” I’ve learned to invest in becoming the most authentic version of me — and that’s when life really started to get good. That’s when I found confidence.
I committed to doing the inner work.
I changed what I watched, listened to, and consumed.
I began speaking to myself with love instead of criticism.
And eventually, the same inner voice that used to tear me down… became my biggest hype woman.
That’s why I’m so passionate about creating music and live experiences that help people do the same. Music is one of the most powerful tools for subconscious transformation — it taps into emotion, which is how beliefs are formed. My songs are crafted to uplift and empower, so listeners don’t just hear the beat — they feel stronger, braver, and more themselves every time they play it.
So how did I build my confidence?
By rewriting the story.
By doing the work.
And by learning how to love myself — exactly as I am.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m Farah “Firefly” Mitha — an award-winning world pop artist, songwriter, speaker, actor, and the founder of Firefly World, a global empowerment brand and movement that inspires healing and growth through music, storytelling, and innovative wellness tools designed to foster connection and personal transformation.

My journey has been filled with both soaring highs and deep lows — experiences that inspired me to create the kind of world and resources I wish I had when I was younger. I grew up in Ottawa, Canada as a deeply sensitive, ambitious child who often felt overwhelmed by emotions, lonely and misunderstood. I didn’t realize it at the time, but singing and writing became my therapy — my way to feel less alone and express what I didn’t know how to. From young I decided that I wanted to create pop music that helped others but as a South Asian woman, following a creative path wasn’t encouraged, so I pursued degrees in physical therapy as a stepping stone to medical school.

But despite the “safe” path, my heart longed for something more. During a pivotal moment in a medical school interview, I realized my soul was calling me toward healing through creativity instead of medicine. That decision wasn’t easy, and the creative industry challenged me in every way I could possibly imagine, with financial instability and emotional hardships to name a few, leaving me at my rock bottom. Still, music and storytelling remained my lifelines — helping me process pain, find resilience, and transform struggle into purpose.

My dual background as a scientifically trained healer and a creative artists, fueled by my passion for spirituality and neuroscience, informs everything I do. This is what makes Firefly World truly unique and exciting!! It’s a platform that seamlessly blends holistic wellness, emotional education, authentic storytelling, and inspiring music to deliver fresh, transformative experiences.

Through our Firefly Concerts, workshops, and programs, we deliver more than music — we bring a powerful blend of heart and transformation. Imagine the energy of a Beyoncé concert mixed with the life-changing impact of a Tony Robbins event. These experiences boost self-love, confidence, emotional resilience, and mental wellness while sharpening leadership and teamwork skills. Perfect for team-building, wellness fairs, schools, conferences, corporate workshops, and festivals — all wrapped up in a live concert that’s deeply personal, fun, and unforgettable.

My latest single, “Beautiful Mess,” is a perfect example of this mission — an anthem embracing vulnerability and imperfection as pathways to strength and growth.

The most exciting thing for me is to be able to offer organizations and communities experiences that are more than entertainment, with the result being lasting transformation. Whether it’s a school seeking to empower youth, a company wanting to nurture leadership and team connection, or a festival aiming to uplift spirits — our work creates a safe space to heal, connect, and shine brighter together.

If you want to bring fresh energy, proven wellness tools, and soulful inspiration to your community or workplace, Firefly World is ready to light the way.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities on my journey have been:

1. Resilience.
I’ve fallen down more times than I can count — but I made a promise to myself: don’t stay down for too long. What kept me going was a deep foundation of faith — the belief that everything happening was shaping me into the person I was meant to become, not just for myself, but so I could help others. Resilience, for me, isn’t about being tough all the time — it’s about learning to rise with grace, extract meaning from the struggle, and use it to move forward stronger and more aligned.

2. Understanding the subconscious mind.
As someone with both a science-loving logical brain and a deeply emotional creative soul, discovering the neuroscience behind our beliefs and behaviors was the missing link in my transformation. Once I understood why I felt the way I did and how I could rewire it — everything changed. That’s why I’m so passionate about creating tools, music, and experiences that help others shift their internal programming too. Because healing isn’t just about inspiration — it’s about information + integration.

3. Having a deep “why.”
At the core of everything I do is one mission: to help others heal the way I’ve been healing myself. That’s what makes it feel worth it. That purpose has carried me through the highs and lows, through rejection and breakthroughs, through setbacks and second winds. When nothing’s working — or when everything is — my “why” keeps me grounded and motivated to keep evolving, writing better songs, building stronger tools, and showing up with intention.

My advice for anyone just starting out?

Start with your “why.” Before you choose your career, your next step, or even your hobbies — ask yourself what really matters to you and how you want to feel. That clarity will fuel your motivation when things get hard.

Then, build your resilience muscle. Expect the setbacks. Learn to see failure not as a sign you’re off-track, but as part of the process that’s refining you. Let the challenges teach you.

Finally, don’t rush — but also, don’t wait around. Soul search. Explore. Keep trying new forms of expression until you find what lights you up. You’re a unique being with a message only you can deliver. Trust that. Develop your craft, do your inner work, and stay committed to the vision — even before anyone else can see it.

You’re not behind. You’re becoming.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
