We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Faraz Ali. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Faraz below.
Faraz, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Keeping my creativity alive is crucial, especially since I’m passionate about so many different forms of art. For me, it’s all about continuous learning, blending inspirations, and engaging with the world around me. I think creativity thrives on exposure to new ideas and experiences. I love learning about different cultures, historical periods, and artistic movements. This opens my perspective and introduces me to new techniques. For example, I might take a course in textile design, dive into music, visit art galleries, or read various genres of literature. This constant learning keeps my creative energy flowing. Each of my interests fuels the others. The rhythm and emotion in music can influence my fashion designs, while visual art can inspire my writing. This helps me break boundaries and create unique work. It’s like all these different forms of art are in a conversation with each other.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m currently focused on becoming a fashion designer and a stylist. My journey began with a deep love for art and self-expression, which naturally led me to the world of fashion. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with various brands, helping to create unique pieces that reflect both current trends and timeless styles. What excites me most about fashion design and styling is the ability to tell a story through clothing. Each piece I create or style is like a canvas, and I love the challenge of conveying emotions, narratives, and identities through fashion. The process of transforming an idea into a tangible, wearable piece is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, collaborating with different brands allows me to diversify my skills and bring fresh perspectives to each project.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, I’d say the three most impactful qualities and skills have been creativity, adaptability, and networking. Each has played a crucial role in shaping my path in fashion design and styling. When it comes to creativity it is the heart of fashion design. It’s what sets your work apart and makes it unique. To nurture your creativity, I recommend constantly exposing yourself to new experiences and sources of inspiration. Visit art galleries, read widely, travel, and immerse yourself in different cultures. Don’t be afraid to experiment and take risks in your designs. Keeping a sketchbook or a journal to capture ideas can also be incredibly helpful.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely, I’m always open to new partnerships and collaborations. Collaboration is a fantastic way to bring new perspectives into my work, and I believe that great things can be achieved when creative minds come together. I’m particularly interested in collaborating with other fashion designers, stylists, photographers, musicians, and visual artists. Designers who share a passion for sustainable fashion and innovative designs would be great collaborators. Photographers with a unique eye for fashion and the ability to capture the essence of a design are also high on my list. Additionally, musicians and visual artists who are interested in projects that blend fashion with other art forms would be great collaborators. I’m looking for creative individuals who are open-minded, innovative, and excited about pushing the boundaries of fashion and art.
