We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Farzana Sharmin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Farzana, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
When it comes to discovering purpose in life, we believe the answer lies in joy. Purpose, for us, is found by following the path that brings the most happiness and fulfillment. At the heart of our business is the simple yet profound idea of connection—of creating a place where people can come together, form genuine friendships, and share meaningful moments.
We’ve always found joy in building relationships and nurturing new connections. It’s what inspires us daily and gives us purpose. Our business exists to provide more than just a service; it offers a welcoming environment where people can relax, unwind, and truly enjoy their time with one another.
We envisioned a space that fosters community—a haven where conversations flow, laughter resonates, and memories are made. For us, there’s no greater reward than watching friendships grow and knowing we’ve played a small part in bringing people closer together.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Cory spent his entire adult life working as an electrician, but he always dreamed of owning a bar—a vision he carried with him for as long as he could remember. When the opportunity to own a wine bar presented itself, we saw it as the perfect chance to finally create something meaningful together.
Excitement fueled our decision, and we wasted no time turning that dream into reality. Cory’s expertise in the trades became the backbone of our venture, as he built the entire bar from the ground up with skill and precision. Meanwhile, I focused on crafting the interior design, ensuring the space reflected the warmth and atmosphere we envisioned—a place where people could feel welcome and enjoy themselves.
Together, we combined our talents to bring the wine bar to life, blending craftsmanship and creativity to create an inviting space that we’re incredibly proud of. It’s not just a business for us; it’s the realization of a long-standing dream and a testament to what can be achieved when passion and teamwork come together.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
We would say to carry on your dream to the fullest. Never stop or take someone’s advice and stop in half point. Be sure to do you own set of digging to find out in and out of what you are trying to do. Some may say that its hard but the hard work pays off. Be sure to also have someone on our side to push you to the end point. Or be sure to push yourself to do everything you can to push to find out what you need and what it takes to make it work. Everything works if you work it!
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
We understand that we’re operating in a very niche market, which means getting established requires significant effort and persistence. Publicity, whether big or small, plays a crucial role in helping us gain momentum and visibility. Our goal is to position In Vino Veritas as a destination for wine enthusiasts—a place where guests can discover exceptional wines from around the world that are rarely, if ever, available in retail stores.
Our wine selection is intentionally curated with this in mind. Each bottle is chosen to provide our customers with a unique experience, offering varieties and vintages that can’t easily be found elsewhere. By introducing these exclusive selections, we aim to deliver a sense of discovery and refinement to every visitor.
