Meet Fayha Sheikh

We were lucky to catch up with Fayha Sheikh recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Fayha, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

A lot of my confidence and self-esteem comes from watching my parents, who immigrated to this country with very little but never gave up on building a better life. Their work ethic, resilience, and the way they created opportunities from nothing shaped my mindset. Seeing them face challenges with determination gave me the courage to start my dessert business, take risks, and believe in myself even when things felt uncertain.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m the founder of an online dessert business that specialises in custom treats like chocolate-covered Oreos, dessert cups, and themed sweets for all kinds of occasions. One of the most exciting things about this journey has been building real connections with my customers and seeing how far word of mouth and community support can take a homegrown business. At the moment I’m working on growing my menu with new sweets and offering more custom designs.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three most impactful qualities in my journey would be creativity, consistency, and connections with people. Creativity and consistency work together in the market for desserts, Creativity is needed as this business is very visually driven people won’t buy or order something that doesn’t look appetising. The consistency aspect is to always keep your products top notch and never go below the level. The only change should be going for better. Connections and communication is heavily needed when dealing with customers since building relationships helps spread word of mouth and raise clientele. The best advice is to always treat every customer like your first. Businesses always grow one step at a time so you learn as you go through experiences.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has definitely been learning how to balance real life with running my dessert business. When I first started, I said yes to almost everything. I’d stay up late working on custom orders, squeezing in deliveries between personal responsibilities, and constantly feeling like I was falling behind in one area or another. This past year taught me the importance of setting boundaries that support both my business and my well-being. I started blocking out time for rest, limiting how many orders I take per week, and being more intentional about planning ahead especially around busy seasons or personal commitments. I also learned to communicate more clearly with clients about timelines and availability, which actually improved customer satisfaction and reduced stress for both sides.
