Meet Fayza Khalifa

We recently connected with Fayza Khalifa and have shared our conversation below.

Fayza, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose through a deep, unwavering love for theater and the transformative power of creativity. From the very beginning of my artistic journey, I was drawn to the world of storytelling, finding joy in the ability to convey messages and evoke emotions through my performances. Theater has always been a sanctuary for me—a place where I can fully express my truth and soul. Staying creative isn’t just a passion; it’s a lifeline. It saves me from the depths of depression, keeps me alive, and lights up my world in ways nothing else can.

Being an artist is not without its challenges. The path is often filled with rejections, struggles, and moments of doubt. There have been times when I’ve questioned myself, wondering, “Why do I do this?” But every time, the answer comes from the deepest part of my soul: “To be happy.” Acting and storytelling are more than just careers for me—they are my life’s journey. There is no other way for me to exist than through this creative expression.

My purpose is rooted in my passion for creating different roles and telling stories that resonate with people on a profound level. Through my art, I aim to use my voice and talents to inspire change and provoke thought. This is my truth, my soul’s calling, and I embrace it fully, knowing that this is what keeps me truly alive and happy.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a multidisciplinary actress deeply committed to the craft of storytelling, whether it’s on stage or screen. My work revolves around bringing complex characters to life, exploring the depths of human emotion, and conveying messages that resonate with audiences on a profound level. What excites me most about acting is the ability to connect with people through stories—stories that can inspire, provoke thought, and sometimes even challenge the status quo.

For me, acting is more than just a profession; it’s a way to express my truth and contribute to a more conscious and just world. The most special part of what I do is the opportunity to constantly learn and grow, both as an artist and as a person. Each role I take on is a new journey, offering me the chance to explore different aspects of humanity and to share that exploration with others.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to play the lead role of Rhynna in the play “Reveals,” which was a deeply transformative experience for me. This role allowed me to push boundaries and explore complex themes that resonate with our contemporary world. Additionally, I’m currently working on an upcoming short film titled “The Brides,” which delves into themes that are close to my heart. Both of these projects have given me the chance to engage with important social issues and use my art to make a meaningful impact.

To those who follow my journey, I hope my work inspires you to think, feel, and maybe even see the world a little differently. Stay tuned for more projects that aim to do just that—there’s always something new on the horizon, and I’m eager to share it with you.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Resilience has been essential, especially in an industry where rejection is common. The ability to bounce back from setbacks and keep pushing forward has kept me grounded and focused on my goals. My advice to those early in their journey is to cultivate a mindset that sees challenges as opportunities for growth rather than roadblocks.

Empathy has also played a crucial role, both in understanding the characters I portray and in connecting with others in the industry. Being able to truly step into someone else’s shoes allows you to bring authenticity to your roles and fosters meaningful collaborations. To develop this, I recommend immersing yourself in diverse experiences and stories, whether through reading, observing, or engaging with people from different walks of life.

Finally, a commitment to continuous learning has driven me to improve my craft constantly. Whether through formal training, workshops, or simply watching and analyzing performances, staying curious and open to new techniques and perspectives is vital. For those starting out, never stop learning—seek out opportunities to grow your skills, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.

Most importantly, believe in yourself from the bottom of your heart and don’t listen to anyone else who doubts your path. Trust your guts and your intuition. Acting isn’t about thinking; it’s about feeling. Embrace these qualities, stay true to your passion, and remember that every step, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goals.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

A book that has played a significant role in my development is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book offers profound insights into personal growth and self-awareness, and several of its agreements have been particularly impactful for me.

Be Impeccable with Your Word: This agreement emphasizes the power of our words and the importance of speaking with integrity. It has taught me to choose my words carefully, ensuring that I communicate with honesty and respect, both to myself and others. This practice has enhanced my relationships and strengthened my artistic expression.

Don’t Take Anything Personally: Learning not to take things personally has been transformative. In an industry where criticism and rejection are frequent, this principle has helped me maintain my self-esteem and resilience. It’s a reminder that others’ opinions and actions are more about their own perspectives than a reflection of my worth.

Don’t Make Assumptions: This agreement encourages clarity in communication and understanding. It has taught me to seek confirmation rather than jumping to conclusions, reducing misunderstandings and improving my interactions both professionally and personally.

Always Do Your Best: Embracing this principle has been crucial in my journey. It reminds me that my best will vary from day to day, but consistently striving to do my best, regardless of circumstances, leads to personal satisfaction and growth.

Overall, The Four Agreements has provided valuable wisdom that has guided me through challenges and helped me cultivate a more mindful and fulfilling approach to both my art and my life.
