Meet Federica Rizzo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Federica Rizzo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Federica below.

Federica, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
From difficult challenges I had to overcome in my life I always tried to take action from what destiny had in plan for me. So I just try take care of myself first. Even in challenges times of my life I stay positive, hopeful and grateful for the little big things that I have starting from my health and family which are the most important things to me two things where I always start to find resilience and strenghth . I think our loved ones can give us the support and help to guide us in good or bad times.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My names is Federica Rizzo. I am professional dancer, dance instructor and choreographer originally from Italy now based in Los Angeles. I moved to the US almost two years ago and since then I am now exploring new artistic careers also as a model and actress for commercials. This is what I love the most in being an artist you can discover yourself everyday as a new person or character . I think especially dancers have more chances to be whatever they want in the entertainment industry. In the entertainment industry we challenge ourselves every single day and this is really exciting for me you never know what will happen tomorrow , everyday is different. We don’t have. a regular life!
I am now teaching in different dance studios around Los Angeles. I teach different styles of dance from Heels to contemporary and stretch classes to many different levels and ages. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to teach in the US too. I am now trying to create a dance company it’s called “Unlabeled Dance” it wants to be a dance community where creatives, movers can share their arts through visuals or live performances. I released my first visual the last month “Trauma” it has been the first of a long list of ideas that I will share through my social medias and I hope we will have an opportunity to share our dance with a live performance very soon. Another upcoming event that I will organize is an “Heels Intensive” . It will be a full weekend dedicated to the style of the Heels Dance and it will take place during the International Women’s Day in March.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think my three qualities and skills that were most impactful in my dance and artistic journey were my humbleness, resilience and authenticity in everything I did. I always had and I still have the urgency to keep learning so also this is a good quality of my mentality. About my skills I always tried to have a well rounded dance and artistic formation. I think versatility is my biggest skill in this field. I think people shouldn’t be afraid to try or explore to do new things even if they seem so far away from what you regularly do. You never know what that new experience can upgrade your knowledge in what you do.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m now in a time where I want to create. I want to put myself, my creativity out there so I’m calling all the artists singers who need a movement coach, a choreographer or they need dancers or dancers who want to be a part of a new community and dance company, a safe space where we can train and grow together with new ideas, visuals etc. You can connect with me through my instagram page @federicarizzo_it.
