Meet Felicia Fasano

We were lucky to catch up with Felicia Fasano recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Felicia with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I find this question really interesting in these times as having now been a boss for many years and have seen generations younger then myself struggle with understanding what exactly work ethic entails, I think for myself growing up with older parents who were raised by immigrants and themselves born during the depression all I ever heard was :work ethic”. It was something applied in every day life between school or chores or even the little things like sending a thank you letter to a relative for a gift. It is almost as if daily niceties and proper etiquette were combined to make us have a strong work ethic without us being hit over the head with it.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Here is my bio: Felicia Fasano is an award-winning thirty-five year veteran Casting Director/Professional. She has been honored with four Artios Awards, Casting Society of America’s highest honor,
for the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, FOX’S The Mindy Project and SHOWTIME’S
Sleeper Cell. Having worked across media and genres, she also earned two Emmy
nominations and three additional Artios nominations for Showtime’s
Californication through which a relationship with Pamela Adlon was formed and
she went on to Cast and become a Consulting Producer on FX’s Better Things,
earning four more Artios nominations in the process. Felicia has also received
additional Artios nominations for SHOWTIME’S House of Lies and AMC’s Kevin
Can F@#% Himself . Her latest Artios nomination is for the Amazon series based on
the feature film A League of Their Own. Currently streaming is Netflix’s Survival
of the Thickest starring and based on Michelle Buteau’s biographical essays.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Only three? Ha ha I think early in my journey a very big leg up for me was that I always found myself useful, I do even to this day. Happy to make you a coffee or make that call that needs to be done, nothing is below my pay grade.
Another thing is I didnt have an agenda and was open to learn from what ever experience came along. I think that made me less threatening but also that I could be depended on to figure things out on my own quickly.
Honestly the greatest quality ive heard from others is that others just really liked having me around! I know it sounds funny but innately I could blend into most any circumstance and know how to handle myself. I think this quality came from my father who had been a Football coach and teacher and everyone LOVED. He showed by example and in words what being a team player meant. I still feel blessed to follow those examples to this day.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
Well yes, after having been out of work for one entire year due to the writers and actors strike I have been doing a lot of soul searching about my future. 35 years in a career and then to not have anything and at the age of 58 being a single woman in Los Angeles is a pretty scary place to find yourself. For the first time in many years I truly do not know what this next year has in store for me so it is hard too plan beyond that. I think having longevity in my career was something I always put a lot of pressure on myself for so there is a part of the unknown that not only is scary but slightly exciting! I guess “stay tuned”!
