Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Felicity Folson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Felicity , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
As a creative, music and changing my environment keep my creativity alive. I’ll be honest, I get bored easily. Sometimes it feels sickening, because while I don’t mind structure, too much repetition drains me. I thrive on trying new things and doing the unthinkable. My best work happens when I follow what feels right instead of forcing a set plan or aesthetic. A lot of my projects don’t end up looking like what I first envisioned and that’s ok. I still love them regardless, because they remind me that change and adjustments aren’t just okay, they’re necessary.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the founder of Digital Don Diaries, a creative series where design, music, and futuristic storytelling collide. I launched this project as a personal outlet, stepping outside the constraints of niches to show the world what my creative mind looks like beyond business. My work lives at the intersection of digital art, branding, and immersive visual experiences, with a strong focus on bold, mystical, and forward-thinking design. What excites me most is pushing boundaries, whether that’s through experimental visuals, the Digital Don Diaries series, or reimagining how brands show up online. Right now, I’m expanding into video editing and content production, while also developing digital products and creative resources. At the core of my brand is transformation, I want people to feel inspired to reinvent themselves and embrace creativity as a lifestyle, not just a service.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three biggest things that shaped my journey are adaptability, consistency, and trusting my creativity. Learning to adapt kept me open to change, consistency built my discipline, and trusting my creativity gave me freedom to experiment without fear. For anyone starting out, don’t be afraid to pivot, build routines that support your vision, and lean into your unique style, that’s where the magic is. Just to add this as well, don’t be scared to start over if you need to. Not everything goes to plan & that’s okay. Just don’t give up on your dreams even if you have to take a step back to regroup. It doesn’t matter how many tries it takes, all you need is one good concept to take off.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I’d definitely say God and the graphic design community. Connecting with people who think like me and are willing to share advice that helps in the long run has been a blessing. A lot of people see others in their lane as competition, but I see it as an opportunity to take notes and grow. In this season of my business, community has played a huge part. I’m grateful for it because I genuinely love learning from others, being taught, and supporting one another so we can all win together.
