Meet Fernando Tipacti Jr.

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Fernando Tipacti Jr. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Fernando, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Interestingly, my purpose found me when I wasn’t actively searching for it. It’s a fascinating concept—do we ever fully grasp what our purpose is, or does it gradually reveal itself to us? Some people strive to discover theirs, while for others, it unfolds naturally. In my case, taking a leap of faith into the arts turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.

I questioned at times if this path was truly meant for me, but I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I became deeply connected to my art, so much so that it became an essential part of who I am. Finding this purpose has brought a sense of fulfillment and wholeness that I hold onto with gratitude, knowing it’s a journey I never want to end.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m an actor, producer, and creative based in Atlanta, GA, with a passion for film and roots in theater. Since earning my MFA in Performing Arts from Savannah College of Art & Design in 2022, I’ve had the privilege of working with Evolution Talent Agency, where I’ve booked commercial projects that have deepened my journey in the industry. My latest short film, We Need a Break, in which I both produced and starred, recently wrapped up a successful film festival run and stands as a project I’m incredibly proud of.

Currently, I’m honing my craft further with the exceptional team at LS Acting Studios and am wrapping up a thrilling new short film directed by Aaron Donahue. But perhaps the most exciting new chapter is the first-ever Amor Nina Independent Film Festival, which I’m hosting on Wednesday, December 18th, at Atlanta’s historic Plaza Theatre. I created this festival as a dedicated space for independent artists to showcase their work, connect, and celebrate together. The world of film has brought me immense joy, freedom, and purpose, and this festival is my way of giving back—an open invitation to all filmmakers to share their stories, make connections, and be celebrated in a thriving creative community. Join us as we shine a spotlight on your artistry!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities that profoundly shaped my journey have been learning not to take things too seriously, appreciating life for what it is, and being honest with myself. In a creative field, mapping out a precise path is nearly impossible. Flexibility is essential, as shifting where you put your energy allows you to sustain and adapt. It’s easy to get drained by focusing on what you lack, so ask yourself: *Are you in this for the recognition, or because you genuinely love it?* This answer will keep you grounded in your purpose.

It’s also essential to enjoy life for what it is rather than getting caught up in the noise. Take time to step back, breathe, and recognize the gift of simply being here, doing something you care about. Instead of dwelling on what’s missing, take a moment to value what you already have—every small victory counts, and every day is a gift not everyone gets. Each success is a stepping stone to further growth, so don’t take them for granted.

Finally, being honest with yourself might be the hardest yet most valuable skill to cultivate. Self-honesty unlocks insights you may not have realized, and the arts demand both vulnerability and clarity. Let go of constant comparison, and preserve your creativity by focusing on your true goals. Ask yourself: *What do I really want?* *Where do I see myself going?* Answering these questions openly will guide you to the path that feels right.

To anyone beginning their journey, stay adaptable, take things one step at a time, and always remain true to yourself—these qualities will keep you grounded and allow you to thrive creatively.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did was give me the freedom to be myself and to tell my stories without limits. From the very beginning, they’ve been there—at every show, watching every film, offering support in any way they can. Not every artist is lucky enough to have this kind of unwavering encouragement, and I know how special it is. Their belief in me and my path has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today; with them, I feel like I can take on anything. Everything I create is, in some way, for them, and I’m deeply grateful for the love and support they continue to give me.
