Meet Fidelia Bonilla

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Fidelia Bonilla a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Fidelia, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my journey as an immigrant from El Salvador, living with chronic asthma, and starting to work at the age of 14. Adapting to a new country while managing a chronic condition taught me to be strong and resourceful. Working from such a young age instilled in me a sense of responsibility, determination, and the value of hard work. These experiences have shaped my ability to face challenges head-on, remain focused on my goals, and keep moving forward, no matter what obstacles come my way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I have an IV infusion business called Magi’s Infusions, where we focus on providing personalized and high-quality care to our clients. We’re currently working to grow and expand into establishing our own med spa. What makes Magi’s Infusions special is that our brand is deeply rooted in our passion for patient care. Having been patients ourselves, we understand the importance of compassionate and attentive treatment. This personal experience drives everything we do, as we strive to make a positive impact on the well-being of those we serve. We look forward to creating a space that blends wellness, comfort, and expertise in one place, and we’re excited about the journey ahead as we continue to grow and expand our services.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and a strong work ethic.

Resilience: My experiences as an immigrant from El Salvador and managing chronic asthma taught me how to handle challenges head-on. Life will always have obstacles, but it’s essential to keep moving forward and not let setbacks define your path. My advice is to embrace challenges as opportunities to grow and stay focused on your long-term goals, no matter how difficult the journey might seem.

Adaptability: Whether it’s balancing a full-time job with my studies or pivoting my career to start Magi’s Infusions, being able to adapt has been crucial. Things don’t always go as planned, so having the flexibility to adjust and find new ways to reach your goals is invaluable. To develop adaptability, be open to change and always seek to learn from new situations. It’s important to step out of your comfort zone and be willing to try new approaches.

Strong Work Ethic: I started working at 14, and that early experience taught me the importance of dedication, responsibility, and persistence. No matter the obstacles I faced, my commitment to giving my best has always driven me forward. My advice for those early in their journey is to stay disciplined, set clear goals, and be willing to put in the work to achieve them. Consistency and a strong work ethic will take you a long way, even when progress seems slow.

Building these qualities takes time, but focusing on them can make a tremendous difference in your personal and professional journey.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My husband and my 5-year-old son have been my greatest sources of strength and motivation. My husband has been by my side through every challenge, offering unwavering support and encouragement as I navigate life as an immigrant, manage my chronic asthma, and work to grow my business. His belief in me and our shared vision has been a constant source of inspiration. My son is also a huge part of my drive to succeed. He reminds me every day why it’s so important to keep pushing forward, to build something meaningful that will make a positive impact on others. Together, they keep me focused on my goals and help me stay resilient in the face of adversity.

In addition to the support from my family, I’ve been fortunate to have mentors who believed in me and guided me in my professional growth. Their insights, advice, and encouragement have helped me build the skills and confidence I needed to start Magi’s Infusions and continue expanding toward my vision of creating a med spa. I’m incredibly grateful to those who took the time to share their knowledge and experiences, helping me to become who I am today.
