Meet Folklaur Chevrier

We recently connected with Folklaur Chevrier and have shared our conversation below.

Folklaur, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity is influenced by my parents. We are biologically hard-wired to be generous. Being kind is in my genes. Generosity of spirit characterizes my entire family. Generosity is an important virtue. Gratitude is generosity in action. I have a resounding feeling of thankfulness and appreciation. Generosity is life changing, and it will not only benefit others, but it benefits me and my soul. By giving the gift of time, food, help, kindness or money makes me, and those around me, happier and healthier. Personal gain or reciprocation is not a motivating factor for the act of good deeds, I give my all and yet it feels as if it costs nothing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
What I’m currently focused on professionally, is producing a premium limited documentary series. What is exciting about it, the series will distinguish itself. The audience will be astounded and their attention will be deeply absorbed into this inconceivable story in a way that is not expected. Documentaries matter more now than ever. There is an urgent need for stories of people’s real-world experiences. This story is by turns tragic and inspiring, horrific and suffused with a fierce hope. What’s special about this series? It will elevate our humanity.

Advocacy work; protecting and promoting rights is important to me. Two organizations I proudly support are The Canadian Centre for Child Protection, a national charity dedicated to the personal safety of children www.protectchildren.ca and St. Felix Centre is committed to removing barriers for people experiencing homelessness www.st.felixcentre.org
Every time you speak up for yourself or others, YOU are an advocate.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Developing these three skills are most impactful on my long journey. In theory this method is ideal, in practice it is unrealistic. Mastery is only achieved through practice and to be truthful, I’m in regular conditioning. Remember perfection simply does not exist. Improvement is an achievement and that’s enough!

A calm mind is the ultimate weapon. For clarity and thought: a calm mind allows you to think more clearly and rationally and control your emotions in stressful situations. Calm is a superpower.

Develop a never give up attitude. Amazing benefits on not giving up. Real success does not happen in the blink of an eye. Real success comes with pain, winning over trails, overcoming obstacles and preserving despite various failures. There are rewards we can achieve when we decide not to quit and never adopt a give up attitude.

Being kind to yourself. Choose self-care over neglect. Compliment yourself instead of judgement. Practice gratitude towards yourself and speak to yourself with kindness over negative self-talk.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
There’s not just one or a particular challenge I’m currently facing. Honestly, there’s going to be problems that arise of varying degree. I’m experiencing how I handle it is essential. I can’t control a situation, however, my reaction to a situation literally makes the difference to change the situation itself.

Everything is subject in our minds; emotions and opinions are relative because it depends on perspective. Sounds logical but I remind myself that my thoughts, emotions and opinion are my own and not necessarily the reality of the situation or that of others. We create a false narrative.

Learn, grow, evolve, become.

What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?

We asked folks a question that led to many surprising answers – some sad, some

When do you feel most at peace?

In a culture that often celebrates hustle and noise, peace can feel rare. Yet, peace

What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?

Over the past decade, we have been profoundly impacted by the wisdom of the community.
