We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ford Ferreira a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ford , we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
Self-care for me is about creating space to stay grounded and connected. Meditation has been a powerful tool; it helps me slow down, quiet the noise, and approach both work and life with more clarity and intention. Travel is another essential form of care; stepping into new environments, cultures, and perspectives constantly reminds me how big the world is and helps reset my creativity and outlook.
Giving back is equally important. Volunteering my time and donating to causes I’m deeply passionate about gives me a sense of purpose beyond myself, which keeps me energized and aligned with my values. I’m also very intentional about unplugging from social media; disconnecting allows me to be more present, protect my mental space, and focus on what truly matters.
Making time for fun, adventure, and spontaneity keeps life joyful and balanced. All of these practices have made me more effective because they help me show up more focused, emotionally grounded, and inspired. When I’m taking care of myself in these ways, I’m better equipped to contribute thoughtfully, lead with intention, and bring my best energy to everything I do.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m an actor, and storytelling is at the center of everything I do. I’m most excited by projects that explore the human experience with honesty and depth; work that creates connection, sparks conversation, and helps people feel seen.
When I’m not involved in projects, I’m deeply engaged in advocacy and service. I’m passionate about mental health awareness, animal causes, and homeless outreach, and I’m proud to be part of the sober community, which has been a transformative and grounding influence in my life.
At its core, my work and personal mission are about authenticity, compassion, and growth.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three things made the biggest difference in my journey. The first is patience—success rarely happens overnight, and trusting the process is essential. The second is being kind to yourself. Growth comes with setbacks, and self-compassion helps you learn without losing momentum or confidence.
The third is finding balance by nurturing other passions that bring you joy. Having a full life outside of one goal keeps you grounded, prevents burnout, and reminds you that your worth isn’t tied to a single outcome.
My advice to anyone early in their journey is to give yourself time, stay balanced, and build a life you enjoy along the way; the rest tends to follow.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
If I only had a decade left, I’d spend it fully living—creating stories that matter to me, traveling, exploring, and connecting deeply with people I love. I’d dedicate time to causes I care about, like mental health, animal welfare, and homeless outreach, while also prioritizing balance, joy, and self-care. My goal would be to make every moment intentional, meaningful, and full of life.
