Meet Fosca Redolfi Tezzat

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Fosca Redolfi Tezzat. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Fosca, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I consider myself a confident person even though that wasn’t always the case. As my friends and family would confirm, my mentality to acquire more confidence in your life is to try new things and put yourself in uncomfortable situations to test your limits. Back in high school I realized that hobbies are way more important that what we realize, especially as adults. Whether it’s signing up to play a new sport, going to see a show, learning a new language, trying a new restaurant, listening to an educational podcast or anything that brings you joy that will make your mind have a positive escape. And by having joy that’s how you can build to more self esteem and develop confidence.

As I’m a professional dancer it is a challenge to detach and stay confident regardless of how well you are rehearsing and performing. So I love to step out of my comfort zone and do new things like: skydiving, surfing, trapeze, rock climbing and the list goes on. By putting yourself in those new challenges and overcoming them you grow and become more confident in your day to day life. And most of all, have fun!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Ciao everyone! I’m a professional dancer and Gyrotonic trainer here in New York City. I’ve lived here for a little over 4 years but I’m originally from Venice, Italy. I both became a professional dancer and certified in the Gyrotonic Method in Italy.

Gyrotonic is an unique movement method created by a dancer that increases range of motion, improves strength and stimulates the nervous system. There are a few different apparatuses that have weights and straps which help you to connect your muscles and expand and feel good. (For more info visit Gyrotonic.com or if you are interested you can email me at [email protected]). I’m so grateful for this wonderful method as I have been practicing it for around 11years. I love how it feels in my body and how I can strengthen specific areas to help improve my dancing. And equally love seeing my clients move and feel good themselves.

As I’ve danced my whole life, it’s truly my first love. As my career is evolving and flourishing I feel so lucky to be able to do what I do on stage. And as much as I love the performing side of it, in a far future when my body will need to slow down, I would love to get into the side of being a director or to be involved in some similar capacity in that side of the business. We need the arts!!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

As an athlete I think part of growing and evolving your skill comes with being in an environment where there are people better than you, that drive you and your work ethic. That’s what I did to become a better dancer, to keep finding amazing teachers and dance academies where you can master your skill and teachers that tell you what you need to work on. So my advice is find those places and find a teacher that can mentor you and help you reach your goals.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

Ha! What a marvelous question. Realistically, it would depend on the amount of money I would have at my disposal. Definitely traveling and learning as much as possible. Places like Japan, Australia and South America have always intrigued me. And a dream of mine would be to get my flying license to be able to fly helicopters for fun! I have a pretty long bucket list so it would be crunch time to fit them all in 10 years lol!
