Francine F., we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I didn’t find my purpose in a textbook or through picture-perfect moments. I found it being over weight , mental health struggles, silence, in shame, and in comparison.
It began with the thoughts I had to fight daily:
“Why am I not further in life?”
“Why don’t I look like her?”
“Why am I even here?”
I’ll never forget my 26th birthday. I had plans to meet a friend, and on the surface, it looked like any other day. But on the way home, I cried uncontrollably for 30–45 minutes—from Boston back to my house. That night, I crawled into bed and sobbed myself to sleep. I felt lonely, unaccomplished, and—if I’m being honest—ugly.
That wasn’t a one-off breakdown. It became a ritual. The tears, the silence, the feeling of being stuck, the added pressure of being overweight, the negative thoughts, I felt invisible in my own life.
But one day, something cracked open inside of me, a small voice whispered,
“It’s time. Time to “BE PUR. BE BOLD”. This means for me tapping into myself and finding my individualized version of wellness. Being BRAVE. Being Original, taking that LEAP to DISCOVERING a stronger and healthier me, identifying my version of wellness on my terms and being real about my struggles and not hiding from them.”
That was the beginning of a radical transformation.
The Shift
At my heaviest being 210 pounds and 5ft 2inches. I had scheduled numerous plastic surgery consultations, desperate to feel beautiful again, to “fix” myself from the outside in but deep down, I knew the real work had to start within.
Then I began to plan. I wrote out actionable steps:
Prioritize hydration
Sign up for a gym membership
Build a realistic routine based on where my life was at currently
And most importantly, stop waiting for “the right time”
Execution Phase
I showed up to the gym at 11 PM—not because it was convenient, but because I was hiding. I didn’t want anyone to see me, to judge me. The gym gave me anxiety.
I found peace in meditation, in breathwork, and listening to healing frequencies like 528Hz. I reconnected with the higher version of myself. My thoughts became clearer. My emotions are more balanced. And that was how my purpose was developed.
Now, I help other women rewrite their stories. I speak. I coach. I curate wellness content that is authentic and motivating. I advocate that women can accomplish their wellness transformation on their own terms, because I know what it feels like when no one sees you.
I am still healing. Still growing. Still discovering the next level of who I am meant to be. But I focus on what I can control. I give grace to the woman I used to be—and strength to the woman I’m becoming.
To anyone reading this:
You are not broken.
You are breaking open.
Your darkness can be your greatest teacher. Your pain can give birth to purpose. You are worthy of healing, of joy, of peace.
And most importantly, you are worthy of investing in you.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Right now, I’m spreading the message of Whole Body Wellness—helping women who are struggling with their mental and physical wellness identify their own version of wellness, on their own terms, to create lasting transformations. I am also doing this by sharing my life stories, raw truths, and lived experiences.
Coming out in 2025, I’ll be releasing my debut book:
BEPURBOLD: A Woman’s Journey to Whole Body Wellness – Think, Act, and Be Bold
It’s a deeply personal story rooted in pain, healing, mindset shifts, and BEcoming. My hope is that it serves as both a mirror and a map for women on their own journey to self-reclamation and total wellness.
Professionally, I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, specializing in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions through both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Before that, I was a Registered nurse. I also hold two additional degrees with minors in Chemistry and Physics—and I’m a dedicated Whole Body Wellness Advocate and Coach.
But my mission goes beyond the titles. Its human transformation. I’m in the process of establishing The Francine F. Forbes Foundation, with a focus on bringing awareness, education, and actionable wellness tools to communities that have been overlooked for far too long—especially in my home country, Jamaica.
And more recently, I’ve tapped into my background in chemistry to begin something new and exciting: developing a holistic, plant-based supplement. After battling COVID four times, I experienced intense brain fog, low energy, and physical depletion. I knew I couldn’t be the only one. So now, I’m working on formulations that support mental clarity, sustained energy, and athletic endurance—rooted in nature, backed by science.
This is what living boldly looks like for me:
Imperfect. Purposeful. And full of hope.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For me, it comes down to something I call my D.C.D. Principle: Delusion. Consistency. Discipline.
Let me explain.
Delusion is believing in something no one else sees—yet. It’s choosing to bet on myself even when the world tells me it’s unrealistic. That kind of faith is radical. When you’re building something from scratch—especially without money, mentorship, or a roadmap—you need a little “delusional” belief in your own vision. I Think about 7UP, it didn’t become iconic until the 7th time they tried, Oprah was fired. J.K. Rowling was rejected. Bob Marley was misunderstood. Aliko Dangote and Folorunsho Alakija both built legacies in a system stacked against them. They all held on to their vision long before anyone else saw it and that’s what I am employing in my life.
That’s where Consistency comes in. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about showing up, over and over, especially on the days you feel unseen. It’s about sharing your message, building your brand, learning your craft, and being present. Even when you get no likes. Even when no one claps. It’s doing the work regardless.
And finally, Discipline. Motivation will leave. Life will distract. But discipline was my anchor—waking up, going to the gym in the cold, nutritional changes, the cravings of comfort food and sweets daily, facing the ups and downs of weight loss, and struggling with not always maintaining my goals. But I remained firm and showed up anyway. I reminded myself that discipline isn’t about perfection—it’s about commitment. It’s about keeping promises to yourself even when no one’s watching and progress feels invisible.
Discipline is your anchor. It’s waking up and doing what needs to be done because your future depends on it—not your mood.
My advice to anyone starting out?
Don’t wait to feel ready. Start now. BE BOLD. Move consistently. Stay disciplined. Learn as you go. Fall forward. Surround yourself with people, content, and environments that nourish your spirit and stretch your thinking. You don’t need all the answers. You just need to keep going. But also rest, eat a balanced diet and exercise keep those neurotransmitters up and running
And remember: Delusion isn’t a flaw—it’s often the seed of greatness.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Honestly? I’m building my personal brand and a whole body wellness brand with no blueprint, not a lot of capital (hello student loans), no viral social media presence, and most importantly—no mentorship. I don’t have a roadmap handed to me. I’m navigating this space by living through my own experiences—my wins, my losses, and every lesson in between.
Instead of sitting in frustration, I’ve chosen action, I’m sharing my story, my behind-the-scenes, and even the messy moments. I pour into philanthropy. I offer my truth and strategy in hopes that it sparks someone else’s transformation.
I also share my story through my wellness videos, retreats, coaching programs, and through daily interactions with others—whether online or in person—because I know firsthand that real transformation begins when we stop hiding and start living out loud.
Even when the direction of your life, business, or purpose feels blurry, there’s power in movement. There’s clarity in showing up. I’m not waiting for perfection—I’m choosing progress.
