We recently connected with Francis & Shondale Castillo & Clark and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Francis & Shondale, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
“Your success will be determined by your own confidence and fortitude.” —Michelle Obama, former First Lady
D & C stopped comparing ourself to everyone else. We no longer cared what milestones others had reached or goals they had accomplished. We only focused on what we was doing, and what made us very happy. Once you realize there is plenty for everyone, and you stop competing with others, you open yourself up to much more success.
That bolsters confidence and you start to view yourself much differently than before. You have to know that everyone is figuring out life and their careers, and you deserve to be on top as much as anyone else. Love yourself, be kind to yourself, speak lovingly to yourself, and work extremely hard. If you act as if you have confidence … you will realize it’s no longer an act in a very short time!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, Shondale and I, believe that three of the most impactful qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge in our journey is time blocking, organization, and discipline. Time blocking involves the practice of allocating specific amounts of time to certain tasks. This helped us to ensure that we was making progress on important tasks without getting bogged down on non-essential details. It also ensured that we had time allocated for activities such as relaxation or leisure as well.
Organization has also played a role in ensuring that we could keep track of all the different moving parts involved in our work. To be successful at this, we needed to be able to organize my materials and resources so they could easily be accessed when we needed them. Lastly, discipline is key because it allowed us to stay on track with our goals and objectives no matter what distractions arose.
This required us to set up routines and habits that helped us maintain focus and dedication when things got difficult or overwhelming.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Whenever you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, disheartened, or even battling depression, immerse yourself in purposeful action. Identify manageable tasks that align with your objectives and begin progressing towards them. Succumbing to feelings of despair or inertia only stalls your growth, while proactive efforts can uplift your spirits. Embrace gratitude, rise with determination, and channel your energy into work. Once you move past these transient emotions, you’ll be immensely grateful for the strides you’ve taken.
Any advice or strategies?
1) Prioritize Your Day. Break down your daily tasks into small, manageable steps. Make a daily to-do list, organizing tasks based on urgency and importance. Identify what needs immediate attention and what can wait. Prioritizing and organizing tasks, helps to alleviate the feeling of chaos and overwhelm.
