Meet Francisco Javier Haros

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Francisco Javier Haros a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Francisco Javier, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Building confidence and self-esteem is often a journey that involves a mix of experiences, reflection, and growth. For me, it’s been about setting small, achievable goals and gradually building on successes. Breaking down larger goals into smaller, manageable steps helped me gain a sense of accomplishment, which naturally boosted my confidence. Instead of viewing failures as setbacks, I saw them as opportunities to learn. Each failure became a steppingstone toward improvement. Replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmations was key. I constantly reminded myself of my strengths and past successes. Constructive feedback from colleagues, mentors, and clients provided me with valuable insights. It helped me understand my strengths and areas for improvement. Gaining knowledge and improving my skills made me more confident in my abilities. I never stopped learning, whether it was about the mortgage industry, personal development, or something entirely new. Being around positive, encouraging people helped reinforce my self-esteem. Their support was crucial during times when I doubted myself. No matter how small, I made it a point to celebrate every win. This habit of acknowledging success reinforced my self-worth.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Hispanic loan officer whose core values begin with fairness and equal opportunity. A firm believer that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed no matter how big or small their goal is.

Watching my immigrant parents struggle with the language barrier and not having a clear idea of what good credit is and how beneficial it would be in the future, made me want to help my community and guide them to achieve their goals in their language.

Today as a loan officer I can help educate my community on how to become homeowners, and also help them save on a down payment by exploring different programs that can help them cover a down payment.

In addition to helping my community navigate the complexities of homeownership, I am committed to being a resource they can trust. Whether it’s explaining the mortgage process in clear, understandable terms, or finding tailored financial solutions, my goal is to empower clients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions. I believe that by providing guidance in their own language and offering the right tools, I can help them not only achieve their immediate goals but also build a strong financial foundation for the future.

I am proud to be a part of their journey towards homeownership and financial stability, and I am dedicated to ensuring that every client, regardless of their background, has the support and resources they need to succeed.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three things have been most impactful in my journey: resilience, communication, and financial knowledge.

Resilience: Being able to bounce back from challenges and keep going has been crucial. My advice: Embrace setbacks as learning opportunities and don’t give up when things get tough.

Communication: Explaining things clearly and building trust with clients is key. To improve, focus on listening well, being patient, and practicing how to explain complex ideas in simple terms.

Financial Knowledge: Understanding credit, loans, and mortgages has been essential. Start by learning the basics, staying informed about industry trends, and seeking advice from experienced professionals.

For those starting out: Stay curious, build strong relationships, and always try to understand your clients’ needs. These will help you grow and succeed in your journey.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was bringing me to the United States when I was just 1 year old. This decision opened up opportunities for a better education and allowed me to learn a second language. I was the first in my family to be able to speak and write in both English and Spanish, which has been a huge advantage in my life and career. Their sacrifice and determination to give me a brighter future have shaped who I am today.
