Hi Francisco M, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Transforming Opportunities into Infinite Realities
My Resilience Journey

There is a moment in life when you know your path is about to change. For me, it was a day in late December 2009. It was my senior year in high school and, like everyone else, I was looking forward to the future. A routine doctor’s appointment led from an exploration to a diagnosis that changed the course of the upcoming year. When most of my friends were getting ready for Prom Night, I was getting ready for surgery and reorganizing my DJ and Entertainment business for continuity. The next twelve months of recovery were a great lesson in personal and business resilience, patience, and self-confidence.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As an athletic and very active young man, knowing that my mobility and autonomy were compromised for a long period of recovery was a great challenge. To depend on others for almost everything and to be abruptly introduced to extreme pain management was a crash course in humility and the benevolence of teamwork and collaboration that would prove very useful in the future.

I did not have to wait long to put this knowledge into good use. Just five years later, as I was upscaling my entertainment business into a Boutique Production Agency, my country was struck by a sequence of devastating events that started with the greatest hurricane the world had ever seen.
Maria, a category five major hurricane, touched land in Puerto Rico on the 16th of September 2017, and we are still recovering in 2025. Just as I was cutting the ribbon at the grand opening of the agency in late December 2019, a series of major earthquakes hit the island over a two-week period. And three months later, we were locked down due to the COVID pandemic.

Once again, my patience was put to the test. But my previous life experience had already demonstrated that tough challenges can be overcome with teamwork and collaboration. So, I gathered my seven-person team, and together we came up with a viable plan to keep the business rolling. And that is when F07 Media was officially born. A talented and driven team of seven creators and marketers embarked on the mission to provide high-quality visual and digital innovative solutions to medium- and large-sized Central American and Caribbean businesses, right in the middle of a pandemic. Without a good dose of previously acquired patience and self-confidence, this endeavor would not even have been born.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The team’s enthusiasm was a huge contrast to the doom atmosphere around the country. But from scratch, we started to build up a client base, led by the torch that would light up the path for other local businesses that were also thriving during these rough times. Not only were we providing media solutions, but we were mostly sharing hope and enthusiasm with other colleagues and entrepreneurs. Three team skills were pivotal in surpassing all obstacles: willingness to embrace challenges, creativity to make the most of very limited resources, and adaptability to unify the previous two skills and enhance human relationships – our most valuable asset.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

For the past five years, my team and I have concentrated our efforts on cultivating these three skills that kept us and keep us thriving and growing. These skills help us develop a lead system for our sales and marketing funnel that prioritizes proactivity and customer relationships, a continuous learning program to keep us on top of novelties in our field, and a studio environment where we have been able to incorporate state-of-the-art hardware and software to maximize our creative workflow. As I once learned from reading Gary John Bishop’s Unfu*k Yourself, you are what you do consistently, and life is full of uncertainties, but determination and consistency can empower you and help you empower others.

If I could write a letter to my senior year self, I would advise him to enjoy the process of everything in the belief that nothing is what it seems to be at the present time. To trust the process and own his choices, knowing that being determined and consistent will lead him to a success that he will be able to share with loved ones, teammates, and colleagues. My journey with F07 Media has taught me that when we gather our strengths, we can transform opportunities into infinite realities.
